The story will not go away maybe because Scally knows that he can't pay for it.So he will keep saying it in the hope that someone else will. He needs a supermarket or something to build it for the community or a rich buyer however unlikely it is.If he can get planning consent there is a better chance it will happen but the odds are still against it.The funds are not there but it has happen at other clubs so everytime houses are being built and sold we will hear the story again because that is the only way Scally may just get his wish. But don't hold your breath.

The council must be bored of the endless applications which have come to nothing in 15+ years. I'd love us to move as it'll make us more competitive in the long term, but unless we have actual partners for the stadium, it's a pipe dream.

Why are the council not contributing to the project? Scunthorpe United, a smaller club than us in a far less prosperous part of the country will be moving into a new ground in the next few years largely funded by local council. In Hull, the KC stadium is owned by the council which allowed Hull to move rapidly from league two to the top end of the championship (and eventually e premiership) as players were attracted by the excellent facilities and the ground was regularly full due to the club competing on all fronts. It is key to the clubs future success and the future success of Gillingham FC could have huge benefits for the local community.

I don't think our chairman is on very good terms with the local authority though, is he?
Also, where the LA has helped fund stadium developments, they usually retain ownership and some control over the use. Not sure that's what we/Scally want?

Agreed. No-one wants to end up like Coventry City.

Isn't hull Aldo used by the rugby club, which must also bring in some serious revenue to offset the costs and be acceptable to the locals as other sports fully catered for.

Has anyone ever thought about the time scally spends in Dubai? Surely surely he must know a mega rich Arab who has money to burn!
