I was pretty shocked on Saturday,to see so few people in the crowd?, i was sitting in the Medway stand, and could see the rainham end was very light, and Gordon opposite was no better!!,and looking at this mornings papers, it says 5173,and if i recall correctly there were 222 away fans, so that's 4951 on our début home game of 2014/15 season, and it wasn't raining!!

I don't know, I think that's pretty reasonable. Lots of people away on hols, good weather means lots of other things to do, we know (I think!) that season ticket sales were down which means fewer people turning up every week without really thinking about it, opposition couldn't have been any less attractive, 2 forthcoming Tuesday night games probably look much more attractive if finances mean you need to pick and choose a bit... 5000 is about the core crowd for Gills I'm afraid. We need a stunning season to expect many more on a regular basis.

Yes, it is a shame that the club can't find a way of capitalising on it's huge catchment area better but it's been this way forever (and discussed here before!)
TBH the only times we ever get much more than 5000 are either because it's a big game of the sort that only usually comes one or twice a season, the opposition bring good support, the opposition is particularly attractive or lots of free/cheap tickets have been given out. Unless we're having a stunning season.

I think Mr Scully may well be asked about the price of the tickets tomorrow morning on Radio Kent. I personally am not unhappy with what I pay for my season ticket but I know a lot of people would find the ticket prices too expensive especially if they are taking their family.

The attendance on Saturday was really disappointing.I do a small job on match days and was expecting a larger crowd. I really don't know what Paul Scally can do about it.However there is nothing better than a winning team and with two wins under their belts maybe it's a start of a prolonged winning streak.I feel that tomorrow night could well be an indication of what kind of season we can look forward to.

I think it might be a but early to get a real indication as to how we will fair this season.

Agree with initial comment re holidays as three of my usual five were away. A bit early to get a real feel yet.

And if you were choosing a game out of the two, it'll be tomorrow. Can never understand kicking off the season so early

I am sure it was the first week in September going back a few years, which is surely more appropriate.

I studied the crowds at all Football League fixtures on Saturday and most were below expectations, probably due to holidays. If they don't improve when things go back to normal, the clubs will get very worried before long.
