Al. Terry Cochrane was in the era where you would go to watch Gills no matter what the score because of the classy players in the team, worth the ticket prices. Compare that to the faceless non- entertainers today you cant help but remember the good old days fondly. If only there were a few characters, maybe it wouldnt be so negative at the Gills. Those were the days!

Terry Cochrane and Dave Shearer belied the assertion that you have to lay off the bevy in order to become a decent player.
Pure class, both of them.

We had a grotty ground but a very entertaining team. It was fun to come to the games in those days.

I remember when I first saw David Shearer,he was in the Cricketers in Sturdee and Terry Cochrane said to me that he was a good player at the time I looked at Terry in disbelief but to me now Shearer is my favourite Gills player of all time. I have just finished reading David Shearers brother Duncan's autobiography and he tells the story of the Chelsea manager John Hollins sending him down to watch Dave Shearer play at Gills as a family bonding project,Duncan woke up on the Monday morning after a boozy weekend with his brother with Chelsea and his landlady wondering where he was! Cochrane and Shearer a time to remember, pissheads but what great players,Cochrane's lob against Bristol Rovers and Shearers hat trick at Colchester live in the memory! Sadly the characters have gone from the game nowadays ,Political correctness and today's namby pamby society to blame!

We're doing our best to try and get Sir Keith Peacock to Terry's book signing on December 4th.as they haven't met up since he left. Would love to see Dave Shearer there as well but with him living in Fort William is probably a bridge too far

A bit before my time, but my mate who comes with me speaks about him a lot and I believe he is one of her all time favourites, which means a lot bearing in mind her club knowledge.

Welcome aboard medwayblue.Hope you find it a rewarding experience. This site is purely about the Gills, and football, where as some other football sites posters inform their readers about what the dog done to their slippers, or how bad the refuse collection is on their street. Let's hope the Gills are now at the beginning of a winning streak so we can hear some positives and "feel good" posts, bearing in mind that crap does happen now and again. Once again, Welcome aboard.

The memory of those three together actually just brought a tear to my eye. I do love a proper winger - had high hopes when Taylor signed McGlashan and Dickenson but it hasn't quite happened yet.
