I think I'd pass TBH.
At the time, if we could have kept him I would have been pleased but even then I thought the Cody swap was a very good deal for us. He wasn't really strong enough physically for the lower leagues.
INVO the moves he's made, I would imagine his salary's a bit higher now than it was when he left, so unless we can do a deal whereby we only pay part of it, I think he'd probably cost more than we would/could pay for a player who can't get a place at Coventry. He's hardly set the world alight since he left us.
I can't think of a single time a returning "hero" has been a success, it doesn't seem to work.
On an emotional level I'd love to see him back, but realistically I don't think it would be a great move for us, unless I'm wrong about the salary.

Yes please, still only 27, can't be any worse than we already have, Could work well with Cody if we are trying to play football as opposed to a target man, I would love him back, Its ok to say 'never look back' and no it does not always work but look at AH or PT or indeed Cody, worth a risk i think.

LOL, I'd site AH, PT and even Cody as excellent examples of reasons we shouldn't look back!!
Agree it would be good to see if he and Cody could make a decent pairing

I don't get why Cody gets so much stick, 20 odd goals last year in a struggling side, 7 so far this year in a poor side devoid of any service, as for AH and PT...... ask the chairman, he seems to have a love affair with them both.

Yes, I agree re Cody. I don't give him any stick, he's doing a decent job for us considering the service he's getting, it just hasn't been the success we all hoped for following what went before.

before was league 2, for me, he keeps proving himself, and still has some doubters, coventry don't seem to look after their forwards to well though do they, they didnt rate cody and now simeon, but both, in my opinion are easily good league one players. strange.

Cody has done well enough this season in view of the team's indifferent form and his goal last Saturday should give his confidence a boost, but apart from I can't think of a returnee who has done well. Even Superbob couldn't buy a goal when he came back so I'd pass on Simeon.

Totally agree swingfieldgill they never seem to come back to the club with the same success they had when they left.

It's only a loan so may be worth a punt if the costs are right. Can soon dump him back if it doesn't work. We need another striker.

I agree, its only a loan, and you can't even compare a returning mid 30's fat super bob to a 27 year old simeon jackson lol

I doubt they could play together. For me, they will make the same type of runs and look to play on the shoulder of the last man. I think we need someone to play with either still. However, I don't think it'd do Cody any harm to have competition for his place and you can never have too many goals or strikers at a club

Not because of the size, Swanley, but because they make the same runs. The only way I could see Taylor trying both together would be a 4-3-3 with Cody stuck out on the right. It's not to do with not hoofing it, but if you have 2 strikers making the same runs, you have an issue. Normally 2 upfront means split strikers with 1 dropping into the hole. I can't see either Cody or Jackson doing that. Their games are about pace and playing off the shoulder.

To say returning player never works out is simply wrong.Cody,Bayo,Iffy,Southall,Jackman and others all enjoyed some degree of success.Frankly if he is a affordable option we would be mad to turn our noses up at a deal.Weather he and Cody can play together is largely irrelevant.Cody showed on Saturday what impact he can have playing for only part of a game.A fresh keen Cody and Simeon could be just what we need the manager needs a opportunity to bring on someone who can get a goal regardless of who is left out Jackson returning could give him that. The modern game is about more than 11 players.Cody Jackson and Kedwell would likely fight for the two places that are likely to be available most weeks.Jackson maybe shorter than Cody but he can play as a lone forward. He unlike Cody is able to drop deeper and play down the middle.I feel that it would be well worth a loan till the window opens. After all Cody is out of contract at the end of the season and the new contract may never happen.I feel looking a Jackson would be a good move.It could also interest Simeon as he would know he will get a chance win the side. Also we as a crowd do largely support our players who have earned repect as I believe Jackson did at least do in his time with us.He is young enough to recover from a dip in form. If Coventry are hot going to use him a % of his wages paid would be better than none at all.Remember Jackson does not have to agree to go anywhere he does not wish to.He may well sit tight and wait a while yet.
