Hopefully some good news is freeman and wagstaff both doubtful, but on the other hand they have some serious threats up front. I was very impressed with their loan signing smith last time out, so if starting again we will need to control him from the start. Tough ask tonight and think best we can hope for is a draw if freeman playing, and nick if 2-1 if he is out as run the previous games against us.

Shame I didn't have a job as a scout, would have loved him at the gills. He could have had 6/7 easily tonight.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game tonight we lost to a vastly superior Bristol City side who looked a division a part in quality! Cody exceptional he was the only player that stood out in our side, fantastic second goal then Smith equaled the quality with City's fourth! So many Gills players looked out of their depth tonight Dickenson and Legge in particular sadly I thought young Hess also didn't look up to what's needed in Division one! Again no leadership in the side the new manager needs to address this with experience needed to be brought in for the spine of the side! Doughty at times tried to be too clever although his ball for the first Gills goal was brilliantly executed! No first time ball into the box was also frustrating at times but hopefully a new manager will address that as well! Just a good ball winning midfielder and a couple of other good experienced players and I think we will turn our season round to mid table safety!

Pretty much what we have always needed. Agree Cody v good and has been last three games and thought dack was good also. Managers need to stop blaming our defence, watched the midfield closely and they were all over the place and the big issue for us. Why doughty was out wide I have no idea and as you say Hess not mobile enough and beginning to show he is struggling at this level. They provide very little or no cover for our defence.

Can't believe I am saying this get Barrett back and play him with Egan! Then just concentrate on a good ball winning leader in midfield!

I agree he's slow but still wonder if he could work will Egan ! I don't like mentioning Chelski players but John Terry is slow but still one of the best readers of the game in World football! On a much lesser note could Barrett be utilised in the same way!

We were all glad to see the back of Barrett. The fact he's done ok in league two doesn't mean he'd suddenly do it at the higher level. Time to move on

Doug Loft, I think his name is. He seems to fit the bill of what you're asking.
