If the this is true I would think it would be a coach involved, if it was a manager why would the team take a player their new manager might not want?

If all the main interested parties for a managers job would like to have a player on board. In the case of Pennock for example his number two David Kevan could well take over(if he was not coming too) if Pens is a target even with what he said to Big Al it is possible. If nit is Nathan Jones he is only number 2 anyway. If it is a manager from league two or below many of our players who be of interest. If they had no wages to pay for the rest of the season for example on a player where they needed that type a free loan with a view would be the type of deal I would expect if a player swap is on the cards.

I wouldn't put much weight behind the "young manager" requirement. I reckon that was more aimed at Peter Taylor than as an actual pre-requisite of the job. He may well have added that one feature of the new manager is that he doesn't look like yer mum.

I think Scally must have had a pre set idea of who he wanted or at least a reason for wanting a young manager. With Scally out of the country a lot it did seem the club ran better with a director of football. If Scally already had someone he trusted who he felt was ideal for that roll.Being more hands on like I would imagine Dario at Crewe. That who suit a young manager better. But it would be unlikely he could appoint him until the manager was in place.I would not rule out Dennis Wise for the director of football roll should that be Scally's route.I do doubt it will be him as manager.Much the same applies to Terry Fenwick in my view.

He would not give it back to Hess he clearly hated that roll. However Allen did seem to get along better while he was doing there.
