Still the bookies favourite, odds for everyone on the list have remained pretty static for the last few days. A bit hard to understand why his odds have not drifted considering up until this week there had been no contact between GFC and Newport. I guess the lack of insider stories getting out as normal means the bookies have lost interest as well as probably a lot of fans. I think we have to got to prepared to be underwhelmed by the appointment of the next manager. Shefqi Kuqi aside, who do people think would be an exciting choice bearing in mind the financial restraint on whoever gets the job?

I want Richard Money at Cambridge, hopefully they are waiting until after the Man Utd cup game live on TV Friday to announce him.

Don't the bookies set the odds based on the bets they're receiving? So the shortest odds will be based on where the biggest, or most, bets have been placed, rather than any news or research being done by the bookies.
How much money will be changing hands over the new Gills manager? If it's only a handful of bets the odds won't have much in common with the real chances for any one candidate.

Richard Money has a reputation of being aggressively strong willed he wouldn't get on with Scally. I would be happy with Justin Edinburgh but prefer the sound of Sheffi Kuqi!

Yes, they set odds on bets received, that's why in the past people like MA although not favourite at first, moved into that position when punters got wind of the news he was about to get the job. The non movement of odds i guess means there are no whispers/gossip coming from inside the club this time ie. Joe Bloggs at the club telling his mate i saw so and so at the ground today. The non movement is either PS no nearer to naming his man or he is happy to let them drift on with the Four Amigos, hoping to pick up a few more wins like Saturday. That is a big risk.

Couldn't it just mean there not much interest and no new bets have been placed?
If we manage to stay up with the current set-up then leaving as is will be a brilliant move by Scally, leaving loads of spare cash for the start of next season ;-D . Doubtful though, as like it or not Saturday's (fantastic) result was largely down to very poor opposition.

Yes, probably no interest in who gets the job from outside punters. When MA got the job a couple of years ago, Keith Peacock recommended Mark Robson, i just wonder if his name might be in the frame this time, anybody know where he is currently working

Hmm, interesting. Isn't he working with the England youth set-up? Don't think he's ever managed has he? Always been someone's assistant and had lots of v short-term positions.

Quite right, he hasn't ruled out a move somewhere in the future, but as a Newport FC employee, GFC have to approach the club first. This has not been done as yet but according to PS the managerial process was started this time last week so surely if he was the outstanding/favourite candidate there would of been an approach by now. Bearing in mind that GFC did exactly this to AFC Wimbledon for Neil Ardley last week according to them.

Just because this is the line newport are taking does not mean it is fact.AFC Wimbledon said we had spoken to them because it was good news for them to do so.It is very likely Scally is talking to another club who are not saying anything at this stage it could be they are doing ground work of there own while holding back on any exit.If a manager is under contract they do not have to let him go at all.My guess is that Scally is at present talking to other interested parties who are available without really expecting to find what he wants. That does not mean that it is impossible that someone could surprise him and get the job.The statements and last weekends result suggest that Newport are not saying all they know.

GFC,will feed the information that they want to feed you. It is in both their interests and the clubs they are talking to to keep stum in what is going on. Too much gossip, and information can do harm to other clubs which is not in the interests of anyone.

Justin says "it is pure speculation". gillsconnect.com/s/Gills_News_Desk/Entries/2015/1/21_FAVOURITE_EDINBURGH_INSISTS_ITS_PURE_SPECULATION.html?Well Justin personally I think you know far more than you are saying.Having chased AFC Wombles for Ardley Scally is likely to have turn to the next target. This one may well have applied unlike Ardley.Personally I believe it could well be Edinburgh. But Newport are not wishing to mess up their promotion and they are likely to want a new man ready before they giving Scally the green light. In the mean time Scally and Edinburgh the Newport fans and us will have to wait a few more days at least. We need to sit tight and wait clearly there are things going on that we can't be told about as Jan said. These denials really mean very little because it is not Edinburgh that is likely to be the block on any deal it is Newport's Chairman. If Justin is Scally's target getting Justin to agree terms will be the easier bit of the deal.

We all know how football works. Scally is interested in Edinburgh. Scally approaches Edinburgh or possibly his agent to sound him out and discuss the job, terms of contract etc. Edinburgh says "no", and no approach to Newport is made. Edinburgh agrees and then we approach Newport and agree compensation. If Edinburgh is Scally's first choice, it'll take a while and cost Scally a few quid
