The team at the bottom (Crawley) and the team second bottom (Yeovil) have less points than games played. However, the teams who are third bottom and fourth bottom (Leyton Orient and Colchester) have at least as many points as games played. As such, I'm pretty sure that we'll need more that 46 points to stay up this season. I'd have thought that we'll need about 50 points to stay up. If we maintain our current form, we'll attain 52/53 points and that'll be sufficient for safety. Indeed, we need at least a further 1 point from each game to stay up. We have 19 games left to play (9 at home and 10 away). So, if we can win 3 and draw 3 at home (that's 12 points) and win 1 and draw 4 away from home (that's 7 points) we will stay up I'm not counting any chickens yet, but I'd say that it's looking promising at the moment. This is why every draw we can achieve until the end of the season is going to be so important UTG

Keep scoring 3 per game and we'll be fine :-)
FTB I don't want to think about how/if that's possible

Assign Richard Money as manager, after the Man U reply. That's how.

What everyone seems to forget is that those teams below us,have got to accumulate more points than us, so we've got to lose games and they have got to win. If we don't get another point, if those below us don't either, then we stay up.

What will be most important is to beat the teams below us and around us. They are the 'six point' games. Who do we have left to play at home?

I went to the fixture list to answer my own question, IBlue, thanks. We have a tough schedule IMO. We have to play the current top 11 teams so that means promotion contenders and play off possibles. Home games with predictions are vs Sheff Utd (D), MK Dons (D), Barnsley (W), Doncaster (D), Colchester (W), Fleetwood (L), Bradford (D), Rochdale (D), Notts County (W). Fourteen points if I am correct - more if draws turned into wins.. Away games are Walsall (D), Peterborough (L), Yeovil (W), Swindon (L), Bristol City (L), Chesterfield (D), Crawley (W), Leyton Orient (D), Preston (L), Scunthorpe (D). 10 points away may be too ambitious but that's what we are going to need. The 'must win' games here are Crawley, Yeovil, Colchester as those teams are currently below us in the table and we want them to stay there.

Agree sunnyboy, we need to throw everything at the games with teams below and around us and great if we nick points against the top boys.

Away games are Walsall (D), Peterborough (L), Yeovil (W), Swindon (L), Bristol City (L), Chesterfield (D), Crawley (W), Leyton Orient (D), Preston (L), Scaanthorpe (D). 10 points away may be too ambitious but that's what we are going to need. The 'must win' games here are Crawley, Yeovil, Colchester as those teams are currently below us in the table and we want them to stay there. Already wrong on the predictions above. Got the draw away to Walsall correct but wins vs Sheff Utd and Peterborough were forecast as a draw and a loss. Good to be wrong sometimes. I was hoping for 24 points from the remaining games and 7 are in the bag already. A win vs MK Dons and Doncaster now seem possible at home. Away, I fancy our chances at Bristol City after a good draw against them in the JPT. Maybe we can take Swindon also. Here's hoping....COYG

Historically it should be, we will know for certain come May, our aim should not be just 50 points, but as many as possible. I hate to be all smug also, but i did say all season this group of players were good enough and capable of keeping us up, they are proving that now.
