Centre page article in The Sun today says foreign investors are looking to take over lower league clubs with a view to taking them to the championship and possibly the Premier League. They have named 6 clubs who according to the investors would be an attractive proposition. We are one, along with Cambridge,Bristol City,Coventry, MK Dons and Peterborough. They give figures on debt ( of which we have none) and other stats like crowds ,owners etc. On paper we look quite attractive

Who are "the investors"?
I think we would be attractive to anyone who is genuinely looking to buy a football club. As we've been saying for decades there must be massive untapped potential in our catchment area. I think Scally has struggled to find investors because he wants their money without handing over any control and that's not going to happen.

I'm sure scally would walk if the money was right. Whether he wants a sensible amount for a smallish league one club though, I'd doubt

Close friends of Scally informed me he was offered £10 million for the club when we were in the Championship and turned it down. Greedy or what?

At that time I don't think 10m would cover the debts let alone leave anything over for PS But as I don't know the terms of the offer its a difficult one to answer.

Who are "the investors"? According to the report there appears to be more than one source of investment with "2nd tier" Russian oligarchs and middle eastern money being mentioned. PS did comment earlier this month (I think)that he had some interest being shown, any connection ?

I have always said when Scally does sell some or all of his holding in the Gills we will know nothing until it happens it seems that the current position financially is not as black as some would paint it.I am not say Scally will sell anytime soon only that he will no doubt get offers given the bit by bit investment in our football has come and coming from all over the world.

This looks like a typical Red Top space filler. Use the Ebbsfleet regeneration as a point of reference, pick half a dozen lower league clubs, mention possible take over talks and you have a story. When or more likely if a deal is done. Then the headline is "You read it here first". When nothing happens it will all be forgotten in a couple of months. The tabloids will have found another story to play with.
