Is his agent still sounding out Championship clubs, or is it just the terms they are arguing about? For his agent to have any real power to negotiate other clubs need to show interest. It seems some Championship clubs are interested in Marquis, the question is can we outbid them, or will the guarantee of first team football be enough to convince him to sign. From what little we have seen since his arrival Marquis and Cody seem a very good partnership, if John decides not to sign then as soon as we are safe from relegation Luke Norris should replace him. Then the coaching staff can decide if to play them as a front two next season.

Will always take a while with Cody wanted an increase, PS probably starting lower and hopefully in the middle they will meet. Not sure we will be anle to get a firm commitment from marquis before season end, possibly agreement in principle due to his existing contract, but whatever happens if we are safe then Norris should get a good run, as you say Holbrook, to see if a partnership is possible with Cody.

All sounds like could be a great few weeks with 2 new contracts!!,BUT in reality, neither may sign!!, but hopefully JE has his own team of scouts searching for young talent,IF these 2 don't come to fruition.

Lets be honest nothing is ever guaranteed with a chairman in charge like Paul Scally!!

Norris was given another chance to show his goal-scoring ability with the Development squad yesterday and did not disappoint. He is obviously in line for a run in the first team if either of the other two do not put pen to paper.

I think we'll be fine with Cody. Gills seems to be his club and provided terms are acceptable, I doubt he'd want to move on, unless a seriously big club came in for him

Agree Hess, a new 3 year deal will be what he wants and seems to want to stay local. Him and Norris next season!?

My only concern is IF by some miracle we did go up, would we want Cody or Marcus tied into 3 year deals? Neither would be very special up a div imo. Likewise if we go down

Good point, technical. However, we also seem to be worried about him being poached by other clubs who presumably, given his age and goal-scoring ability, will be offering 3 year deals. I think that if we want to keep him that's what we'll have to do too.

I think we have to work on the basis we are in league 1 and maybe for a while. If we get promoted then increased revenues would mean additions possibly at a higher level and if neither could cut it they would leave, possibly for a small fee as proven goal scorers. I think still a way away, so we need to sign for now and worry about the future when it comes.
