We of course do no really have much idea who JE is about to bring in.As he has gone on record saying may time he try's to play a formation that is suitable to the players he has we don't even know how we are likely to line up.But the question I keep asking myself is weather last years finishing side would be enough.I know we have lost a few old faces but the core of the side is there and if we were able to bring back 2 or 3 of our loan signings plus fill in the areas we are now missing with players to the same standard as the squad we have would that be enough to make the play off's? Given the results in the second half we have to be confident of progressing.A lot of wages have gone out of the door since this time last summer with Barrett,Kedwell,Fish,Legge,Martin and many others all coming off the wage bill. This must give JE a chance to make some good offers.I am confident that the next few weeks should be quiet exciting.

Don't disagree with that stato and believe if we can get Ehmer, marquis and chickson/garmiston back then we will have had a good start to getting a good side. Will need to add another 3/4 players, including a bigger midfielder and if we do we will be there or thereabouts. The players that have gone were, I would guess were towards the higher end of the wage bill so hopefully JE has room to manoeuvre funds wise and be able to get some good names in.

He has the spine of a team in Morris, Egan, a fit Loft, Dack and Cody. If he can buy 3-4 decent full backs (we'll need cover) a couple of decent centre backs and a partner for Cody, we'll do ok. I'd be very surprised if we will be able to push for the play offs this year though. I still think that's another season or two away

In the end only 7 points off the play offs, so with us all expecting a better side pound for pound than last season then we all really should be setting our sights on them. I think if we all look back to the start of last season we pretty much all said this coming season we expect it.

Hessisgod....We are a season or two away from playoffs contenders.
I don't think that will go down to well with the fans. I do think we can seriously make a push for the playoffs this coming campaign. If scally has potential investors for the club we must be showing progress on the pitch and challenging for promotion to attract attention, this season we must be challenging for top 7 in my book. Midfield needs to be stronger meaning jake hess being backup player at best, get marquis in as priority and strong tackling midfielder and sort out that defence.
Up the gills.

I expect while Hessisgod wants success he feels we should continue the longer term approach that started under Taylor. This is something I largely support however if JE gets it right there is a chance of both looking to the future and winning games this has to be the aim.I would support the idea of only bringing in a few older players maybe one on midfield and one at the back around say 30ish(those guys whoever they are simply have to be right) and continue with a very young side that has been a success this season once they had been given the freedom to play.

As above only 7 points off last season with a young squad so no reason why play offs arent possible this season. As to staying with the younger team, that is a must and can't see JE changing that.

Yes I do want to see the continued improvement by buying younger players. There is no point in bringing in players who can't/won't develop and improve. There is no point in going up if we come crashing down. We've seen with other clubs, such as Yeovil, that negative momentum is dangerous. I'd love to see us playing at a higher level, but let's do it the right way and not break the club in the process. What I want next season is to see us improve. If we improve and don't make the play offs, that's fine. If we go backwards, I won't be happy. Let's not set unrealistic expectations and then come shouting on this board when we lose a game

I do understand your view however there are times when we need a older head out there on the pitch.I am sure one of the reasons why we have not had the best out of Loft I believe is that lack of a senior player he can lean on for advise. We have a young side that can improve and with the right coaching I see no reason why we can't push forward in the right direction. How quickly could depend on Scally to a large extent. We have come through a tough time money wise and no doubt he has learnt enough no to over spend in future. However we do seem lucky enough to have some good coaches at grass route level at the club. This and our seemingly willingness to give young lads a chance should give Justin Edinburgh a really chance to land another Egan. All we have done is laid a foundation which in the long term could be meaningless as it would be easy to slip backwards.I would agree that promotion if it is to ever come needs to be at the right time.Next season could be too early. But lets see how it pans out.A few good signings and we could be up there. For me while it is vital we carry on bringing in young hungry players we also need a Andy Hessenthaler type signing.A older player full of energy and passion with a respected voice on the pitch and in the dressing room. These players have largely been hard to find for us but they have been there and Scally and JE should not shy awat totally from all older players just because of our past record. While it would be easy to point to many failed senior pro's we can also point to success stories. Bayo and Frampton would be two I would point too.But there have been many others during the years. Tony Pulis had almost a team full of them while with Gills. Look at Preston for example while they had young players I am sure Kevin Davies played a part both on and off the pitch this season.I am not saying we should sign Davies only that there has to be room for the right player for us to take that bit of experience and know how on to the pitch.
