Hi fellas, Just a short piece on Jack Reynolds here that I thought some of you might be interested in. I'm sure most of you already know about him but for those of you who don't, Reynolds played over 100 games for New Brompton, making them the dominant team of his playing career. After a modest career, he became anything but a modest coach & manager, transforming Ajax into the powerhouses that they are today, paving the way for 'Total Football' and their focus on youth development. Anyway, for those of you who are interested, the article is here: ahalftimereport.com/2015/06/24/from-reynolds-to-buckingham-total-football/Cheers.

WOW All the years I have follow Gills I had never heard of him.I may even forward details to my dutch brother in law I never knew Gills had a link to Ajax and total football. Reynolds had a amazing story England's FA in those days real did our game no favours at all.Makes you wonder if Jack and the others had the chance to progress in there own country weather we would have seen their legacy leaving England with a far stronger team and history.Just found this on the great man.Maybe Scally should phone Ajax and see if they would agree to play a special friendly to remember the man.If we ever do get a new stadium maybe we should remember the guy by naming a stand after him.In some ways he is our most influential ex player in terms of the world game. www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/past-masters-jack-reynolds-586334.aspx

Glad you enjoyed the article, thanks for the kind comments.
If you have any interesting stories about any ex-Gills players/managers or about the club itself that have never really been covered please let me know, I'd be happy to do some digging and see if I could put something together.
All the best for next season.

For years I have seethed at the 6-3 7-1 drubbings by Hungary, and now I find out it was down to an Englishman, not sure if I feel better about that or not.

Be proud without guys like Reynolds the FA/FIFA would still be run by the old school tie lot.Oh sorry yes it still is.That is the only reason why our Jack never went to the top of the English game.Their loss and ours. But guys like Jack Reynolds show players and staff at clubs like Gills it can be done.We do not need to feel totally down trodden ever again. One day soon the top of the game will be totally changed and guys like Reynolds will be respected as they should be and the Blatters of this world will be long gone from FIFA and the FA.Then and only then we can move forward.

Proud of the likes of Jack Reynolds stato, but still seethe at the likes of the "School Ties" that allowed and kept his like from leading the way in football in England and therefore the world. As for the likes of Blatter their names' should never be mentioned in the same breath as football. Perhaps the way forward would be a boycott of international football by some of the national teams, say the European teams. Maybe too much to ask,too much money and brown envelops at stake.

I have a feeling our Jack Reynolds would be smiling if he is looking down viewing Justin Edinburgh's version of total football. Having a centre back making runs down the wing and a centre forward making outstanding tackles.

Reckon your right there stato, also probably thinking it took a while to get through.,but I'm sure glad it did.
