Not a great game in all honesty.I have to admit I left the game somewhat worried by our lack of height and physical strength. Houghton failed to impress and Gills starting without Egan looked short defensively. Although I felt that our new signing 'Dave showed some promise although one or two touches gave us problems. Once again I liked the look of Jackson. Lively going forward and sound when defending. Dickenson was the pick of the forwards. While skipper for the day Dack did OK the rest of the midfield failed to impose themselves. The young sub who is said by Kent online to be Darren Old..... Different on team sheet. Said to be a first year scholar that being the case he was excellent. I thought at the time he was a trialist who impressed in a 15 minute cameo The fact that he was just a kid was all the more impressive. McGlashan, Cody, Lofty were all missing. Overall somewhat worried but there is still time and I would guess budget. We should know this time next week if we are on the right track.

I find it hard to believe that Houghton ever plays at centre back for Chelsea he looks light weight in midfield.

Concerning comments stato as appears last seasons midfield frailties still exist. As I know a large number of us have said we need a tall and hard tackling midfielder who can compete otherwise we may struggle again in the centre of the park.

These friendlies may not be showing players in their true colours. There is of course very few real challenges so we will not really see what we have until the season starts for real.

It always concerns me the number of injuries that take place during these friendlies. This year is no exception.

Other than the French match I am not sure we have had any injuries during games that have been caused by the opposition. These injuries if they are all true happen when players have stepped off the fitness gas. Then try to push to hard to quickly. I doubt we will ever know what happened in France.

I think we all get a little concerned re pre season injuries just because of the players we have lost over the last few years - king, fish and birchall being pretty much all career ending. As to France, I hope we don't get the real story, would need a18+ certificate.
