Good luck to him .I had a feeling he would leave in search of a regular start .Playing left side as part of a three doesn't suit him. With Ehmer they are not commanding enough .So while I feel that left sided centre backs are hard to find it could suit both parties although I doubt he will be easy to replace with a permanent replacement .A young loanee may fit the bill who is a left back /centre back .However if we are getting Reilly ? Lovell may not feel we need any more cover at left back with Aaron Simpson able to step in it required .

I wasn't saying Nugent was a left back .Only he is a left footed player who often found himself on the left side of a back three .Going forward i can see more value in getting in a replacement who can play in wide areas if required .Lacey and to a lesser extent O'Mara maybe capable of filling the void in the central areas .However as I said there could be a value in getting in a much more versatile left footed replacement .

Can’t say I’m unhappy. Very limited in my view and distribution awful. Im surprised we offered him a deal. Of course, good luck to him though

Yeah, bit of a fool really, he won't get a start at any club, even in League 2, better to stay somewhere where he was actually wanted, albeit as a bit part. Might get a regular start in the Conference. Hope he's considered his money options or he may find himself with problems. Not overly concerned, we were doing him a favour offering him new terms anyway. Good luck though. and he is a big lump of a Centre back!

Not sure I agree at all with that assessment .Nugent will do well in league two . Left footed centre backs are rare as are left backs and left wingers .Nugent is still a young player and I can see him doing ok like Garry Richards did .

If you want hoof football he’s your man. I’m pleased personally.

Yeah, wasn't too keen on Garry Richards either Stato! Mind you it shows how people see things differently, You said that when Cas first started you thought he was pants. I only remember him bursting on the scene with power and immediate goal scoring ability, great, if a little ungainly, from the start. That's how we are. I also remember a great fondness for David Chadwick especially after I saw him dismantle Chesterfield on his own one Saturday, he would be in any of my favourite Gills 11. I know that some don't view him like that at all and Ashurst did get shot of him not that long after. He was taken aback at the time and so was I. Perhaps it was his advanced age but he was Captain and an inspiration from where I was standing.

I don’t think Nugent is a great loss.
It’s good to have a big lump or two at the back, but there was a bit too much hoof ball from him in my opinion, sometimes it was the only option which is fair enough, but sometimes, he didn’t seem to look for other options which were available.
I can see him settling in well at a League 2 side, maybe League 1 was just a tiny bit outside of his comfort zone, and who knows, maybe if he’d had regular starts from the beginning of the season he might have improved a bit more.

What looks like a old report has some revealing information . www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/sport/nugent-departs-priestfield-185192/It seems Lovell was totally honest with Nugent .He did offer him a deal but it clearly wasn't a deal that would have been that appealing . Love Steve's honesty .Hope it works out for Ben as he did nothing wrong and was part of a much improved defence on occasions .Sounds like we will not sign any more cover at centre back .

Thought he worked hard and honest in his appearances for us,with his main problem appearing to be having to much to say to officials at times, worried me, seem to be sailing to a booking. Neverthe less Good Luck Ben,time will tell.
