Enjoyable match was bursts of quality and was a gritty win against a Burton side that just wouldn't lie down. How Gills didn't concede in the first twenty minutes is a mystery but they did and managed two good goals for the half-time lead. Burton were lucky twice not to have had a player sent off as 'last man' fouls. List played a blinder up front and his goal was a beauty running clear of Brewers defence befopre slotting into the far side of goal.
The Gills penalty was just - especially after Charles-Cook being held back for a shot on goal and their player not given a red by the referee. From the resulting free-kick there was a hand-ball in the wall and Reilly smashed the penalty straight down the middle with their goalie diving to his right.
Brewers equalised with two good goals and then with 20 minutes left it didn't look too good for Gills but the winning goal was taken off List as he was turning in the area and smashed into the bottom left-hand corner by Rees who was mobbed by his team-mates and the travelling Gills supporters.
Brilliant three points and everyone deserves credit for their effort.

Cheers I-blue for the report. A big well done to players, manager and all supporters who made the trip. Another 3 points for the pot.

An amazing 3 points against a very very good Burton side today. On another day they would have put 5 past us but to get that late winner was an amazing feeling.
Get in you mighty Gills!!!!

Yes and it's that, that is the constant concern but they fought out a win this time and credit this time, so very pleasing, but it's next time that is the usual worry and the time after that-I wish I was wrong.

We don't half like making things hard for ourselves don't we.
We went in at half time with a 2-0 lead and were 2-2 15 minutes into the second half, with a late Rees goal to get us the win.
We shouldn't have to worry about this every game, we know they can play, we've seen them do it against Portsmouth and Cardiff among others.
It does show that Lovell hasn't lost the dressing room, but we need to get a grip and sort out our consistency

So pleased we won today great three points! I must say though Dazza please do not class them as some sort of super team, nice club, nice Meccano stadium but we should be beating teams like Burton every week.
I suppose Burton are like the equivalent of Bournemouth in the money grabbing Premier League, punching well above their weight!!

It was a great result today. Although I wasn't there and was listening to the commentary. It just seemed like a matter of time before Burton were going to grab those three points. As they constantly bombarded the Gills goal. It was scary to look at the match stats that showed how many shots they had. When I heard the final whistle went, it wasn't stats I was interested in, I was relieved and happy that we had the 3 points we deserved.

Thanks iblue. It sounds like a close call at the end. Well done today Gills. With teams around the relegation positions picking up points, it was vital not to lose. Three points was a massive bonus. It’’s a very difficult division with teams like Plymouth, Bradford and Scunthorpe coming back, after looking favourites to struggle at the bottom. I know it’s obvious, but all the team can do is keep going, keep the faith and pick up points, especially as there isn’t any outstanding teams, everybody is beating each other, with no team adrift at the bottom, it’s a bit of a lottery this season.

I wasn't talking about in general I was talking about in this one game, Burton outplayed us for most of the game and look a very very good side and must feel robbed that they haven't got at least a point. For me it's an amazing result but worrying how much better Burton looked than us. But a win is a win and I'm delighted with the 3 points.

LUCKY THREE POINTS
We were completely outplayed by Burton Albion and the stats were ridiculously one sided, to win like that is a one in ten chance. The Brewers must have felt robbed because they had 63% possession to our 37% and their shot count was 31 to our 7. Nine times out of ten, teams win games like that with such dominance.
Enjoy the win all Gills fans because there are definitely worrying times ahead under Lovell.

No I didn't attend I have only been to Burton once the 3-2 defeat on the last day of our Div 2 winning season. Was it as a unit or did Burton have better individuals than us?

It evens out over a season - be happy if you can with a vital three points. The requirement now is three more against Walsall.

Many thanks iblue always good to get a balanced view of a game that you can not attend, from what I have read and seen of the game by way "quest" etc.your report re-enforces my opinion of the game. Three v.g. points and and display of tenacity from a side who battled, if struggled at times, to gain max. honours .
