We are looking worse than ever and today the players looked lost and worryingly didn't look like they was putting in any effort.
Let's all be honest we are where we should be in the table with the squad we have, but performances are now really poor.
Whilst we was playing ok and picking up results it made no sense to get rid of SL but those results and performances have dried up and it could be a perfect time for a change.
Still a risk as we are not currently in the relegation places but I think it needs a change.

Iโm seriously annoyed at the performance, but we arenโt going to sack him the week before a fourth round fa cup tie

Im not a big fan of the current trend of sacking the manager the moment things get a bit difficult.
But, Lovell seems to be incapable of getting consistent performance out of the team. We don't have the best players in the world, so it would take a miracle worker to get us higher than somewhere around 15-12, but we shouldn't be playing as badly as we are, especially at home.
The problem is if he goes, either through choice or getting the boot who would we replace him with?
We need a manager with league experience, but if we do have the funds for that, and to allow them to bud their own squad over the summer, who in their right mind would come to Gillingham?

The timing is far better now than it was when we was coming off 3 wins from 4 games and fans were calling for him to be sacked. Obviously he has earned the FA cup game and two more league game in my opinion but after recent performances I wouldn't blame Scally if he sacked SL tonight.

Donut... I knew dazza would eventually come round to the fact that Lovell is on borrowed time, only because of our FA Cup exploits is he still here. It's just a matter of time, I don't want us to wait until we are in the bottom 4 before we act, we know that under the current regime we are a rudderless ship going one way only and every passing game, our useless chairman dwells on whether to dispense with SL services is a lost opportunity to gain much needed positive momentum and some kind of resemblance of consistency which has been our main problem all season.

Steve Lovell....I'm lost for words.
We have been lost for words all season and it's the same old post match comments from him.
Individual errors.
We train well all week.
I am a supporter too.
Is it the personnel or the system I'm playing ?
It's frustrating because you don't know where it's come from.
Fans are getting tired of all the excuses and scrap about you keep spouting off about your surprise of how slow we started because you are just a shadow of of Adrain Pennock and will always been remember for being a decent club striker for us, but you certainly better remembered now for being PENNOCKS NUMBER 2 and you just don't have a clue how to manage a league side.
Crowd for yesterday was just under 4000.
Fans are getting fed up of the current setup and you can quite easily see us losing another 3 to 5 home games under Lovell, which will probably means another Adrian Pennock last day miracle.
But this time we might not be so lucky !!
Ebbsfleet..Kent's best football team at the moment !!!
I don't anybody could argue with that.
Need I say anymore

Motivating players has been Lovell's biggest problem and his inability to coach first team pros is showing by our inconsistency to perform well, week in and week out.
Lovell..you are the heart of the problem and we will continue to perform like we are now, until you have gone.
This is good as it gets for Gills fans under Lovell..that's means a relegation scrap.

Need I say anymore Although lower in the National league I would say Dover are the top non-league side in Kent. Apart from two players signing for the 18/19 season, they lost a whole squad. They had a shitee start to the season, got rid of the then Manager Chris Kinnear and brought in Hessy. Hess has turned results around and they now look like surviving and unlike Ebbsfleet they have not had a bucket load of cash thrown at them by a middle eastern businessman. So although Ebbsfleet are higher in the table, you need to consider the back story to how they are getting there. Yes we lost yesterday after a great result and performance at Burton, but realistically who do you think would or could step in at this moment and turn things around? Personslly I feel that SL can only work with what he's got, and unfortunately we do not have a very talented bunch of players. I think Gillingham will always bea L1/L2 club with the Occcasional bit of glory every now and then, but at least we have a team that we can go and support ๐

It seems to me that there is no doubt budget pressure on Lovell. But did he make the right choices with the money he had and is he getting the best out of them. I don't think so. Some of them are not that bad ability wise and it wouldn't take that much addition and the right coaching to get the best out of them. OK perhaps Scally hasn't made money available but will there be money for someone else, if so he needs to sack Lovell before the end of January. I don't think a lot of the players are that happy, they're young and they're not going to say much to someone like Lovell when he questions them, they'll just turn in performances like yesterday until the problem has gone. Excepting people like Wilkinson and one or two others, like maybe Parker and you can propbably say that they aren't good enough anyway. I don't think though Scally is now prepared to pay for quality, because it often brings other problems that's maybe why Lovell is looking at Bromley. Trouble is, as we know from under Stimson, if you buy too many non-league players, you might slide towards that promised land. That seems to be the level that we can achieve as Scally has no chance of attracting more investment or a new Stadium. We may well be knackered and Scally has to take some of the blame for that, perhaps all of the blame. I will still be a fan should that happen, it's part of me, but it's not something I desire and it seems to me that it need not happen.

We are currently in a situation like Ebbsfleet were earlier in the season when Daryl McMahon lost the dressing room and the results nosedive. Since Gary Hill took over they have been immense and probably heading for the play-offs at least.
We definitely need a change to starve off a relegation battle and certainly need a new manager bounce.
If we persist with Lovell at the helm the headline will be... " Nice FA Cup run, followed by relegation to league 2 ".
I don't take any pleasure in seeing my team struggle, but I can see where we are going with Lovell and that's not easy to stomach.
Like Pennock said " We are like Chalk and Cheese".
Actually we are like that because Pennock and Lovell both have very little abilty as managers and that's obvious to every man and dog in Kent.
