If that report is true, we may yet be able to keep him.
If we can offer what he wants, and he believes in Evans vision/plan for the next couple of seasons then he might choose to stay with us and fight for a promotion place.
However, I think it is more likely that he will leave.

I think you are right. I doubt we could match Ipswich or Pompey's wages or signing on fee, so let's hope SE can find a adequate replacement.

I reckon that Tom Eaves could nave done a job for Spurs last night.
Certainly better than Harry Kane.

I think you are right. I doubt we could match Ipswich or Pompey's wages or signing on fee, so let's hope SE can find a adequate replacement. But this is the crux of it all. There is talk on this forum of challenging for a playoff place next season but the feeling is that we cannot compete with the likes of Ipswich and Pompey for our last season's top goal scorer. Presumably, Ipswich and Pompey also hold ambitions of challenging for a play off place and/or promotion so if perhaps resigned to the loss of Tom Eaves, then we now have to find a forward who will score those goals instead that we can afford (and is not on the radar of our better resourced League 1 rivals for next season).

Kane is by far the better player but I don't think he was fully fit on Saturday and was getting nowhere against Van Dijk or Matic. Sometimes a big lump puting himself about can have success when everything else fails. Andy Carroll is no football player but can be devastating when fully fit and putting himself about.

Latest is Eaves being linked to the train spotters. No surprise as they've gone up

I think jock was using a touch of irony here? Let's face it though, Kane was crap.

I’ve got a feeling it’ll be a be careful what you wish for move. Eaves has been pony everywhere else and found a home at gills

Be great if Evans can convince him to stay, He's scored more goals with us than any other club!!, He had some success at Bristol Rovers (loan) 16 games and 7 goals, and Shrewsbury Town (loan) 10 games and 7 goals, but 84 games for us and 38 goals. Fingers crossed we keep him, before he signs in championship!!!. UTG's....
