Yes, still time but we seem woefully short at the moment. Surely he wants at least one striker, a number one goalkeeper, two or three in defence. Midfield we look in reasonable shape. Will he make up the numbers with a few loan signings, I'm hoping not...

Hopefully he’s got some lined up ready to get cracking once the team etc are out of isolation, which must be fairly soon if they aren’t already. They could also be waiting for the embargo business to be sorted out

Ah Manc, phew, you re still here. Don’t see how the embargo can be sorted out. If we can’t save Scally with money from Tucker I can see this season being a problem and evans going prematurely. Scally s buck and his luck….must run out soon.

Scally s buck and his luck….must run out soon. The embargo is only in place until the accounts are filed at companies house. And it only stops you signing players on loan and paying a fee for players. We can sign as many players as we like on free transfers.

Well he d better move it, we will need loanees! A slight correction, we can sign loan players, but only for half the season, and any free transfers can only be registered with the club for 1 season.

For 20 years Paul Scally has been " looking" for investment but found none. This season, Evans's third, for the first time in a long time we have real momentum and the chance of a propper push for the top 6 and promotion back to the Championship. The crowds will return and we need the excitement of a couple of quality signings.
So can Paul Scally use his own wealth to back this vital, one-off momentum? It would seem not. 500K to boost us now would make all the difference yet here we are 2 weeks before the opening game short of players but plenty of excuses from PS.
I've always supported the Chairman but this summer he really had to step up but hasn't. And have we yet filed the accounts? This is farcical in the extreme.
It would appear, once again, our only hope is to gain a million for Jack Tucker, added to the Hanlan snd Walsh money, which may already have been spent.
To repeat the last 2 summers and rebuild from scratch was to be avoided but here we are again. I hope for the best as ever. Up the Gills!

There you go Stevo, there you go Manc, someone new telling you and look at the evidence in front of you, it is poor, it really is.

We got enough players to join the UK Powerplay 5-a-side league.
The transfers have been very slow coming recently, I suspect we are struggling to bring in the players we want due to the clubs shallow finances.
The chairman knows he does not have the full support of fans and he lingered at the club for too many years. He is a hang around chairman who most find irritating and troublesome. His poor communication with the fans over the years and inability to find investment over the years has been a smokescreen for his own vested interest.
Back in March 2020 Scally was in talks with potential American buyers, but then covid struck and flight restrictions ruled that out.
We have had enough of the owner and need a new fresh approach to the clubs future. At the moment we are a club in limbo without vision. A chairman who is an embarrassment to the club and causing a lot of unease among fans with his false promises.

Interestingly, I did see that we aren’t the only club under a transfer embargo.
There is one other League 1 club, 3 or 4 in League 2, and another 3 in The Championship.
Not that this makes the situation any better, but it’s not a one off specially for us.
Hopefully we can get some players in the door and get these issues resolved soon.

I think the next few signings going by rumours are a new Sous Chef and Cleaning Operative with job description must be reliable, flexible and able to play football for the club during weekends.
Successful applicants must be able demonstration they can do at least to 3 kick ups.

Scally did say he wanted less players and more quality. As it stands, we have 17 "first team" players on the books. However, Evans wants Maghoma out. 3 of those players are Woods, Lintott and Sithole. I'd imagine we'd be hoping to loan the 3 of them out. That gives us a squad of 13 and that assumes Akinde stays. What worries me is that Evans does an interview saying we're close on xyz and nothing happens. Presumably, those players are going elsewhere. I don't honestly see how we can start the season without 5 new additions. I have huge trust in Evans, but it's as worried as I've been for a while going into the new season, especially after the covid disruption and cancelled friendlies. I don't see how we can go into the season without another Keeper (the way Evans was speaking, Chapman is down to be no 2), a central defender, a striker and another winger. I also can't honestly say I've got wild levels of excitement about the new boys. Last season, we were signing the likes of Graham and Dempsey. I don't think anyone can argue these lads are in the same class.

No it really does look very bad. I’m glad we re not the only club in League One that is run like this, there is one other! Good grief.

A very reasoned post from KG, I have no doubt speaking for many fans, sadly there is no chance of Scally reversing 25 years of profit taking from the club. Confirming that the sanctions appleid by the FA and those we face from Companies House are related to the same issue but subject to separate authorities.
Companies House actually gave a three month extension for filing. Originally the deadline was end of February, extended to end of May. So Scally's claim that this is all down to the auditors is totally implausible. In effect we are now almost 5 months past the date that we should have been planning for. In addition, remember that the data is not for the current FY but for the previous one.

So, providing SE has made a better fist of choosing players than the last two close seasons, we have something approaching reasonable numbers. But we desperately need two strikers, and some half decent ones at that, who can hold the ball up aswell as find the net. Wait, and hope, to be proved wrong, but I fear Oliver won't meet his tally of last season this time round
