With a low budget and without a full squad not yet in place. league 1 being on paper the strongest in living memory, with many so called big clubs and ex premiership teams. What is going to be a reasonable expectation for the upcoming season. Without being too negative, a middle of the table position is my prediction. Between 10th - 14th.

I think roughly mid table is probably a fair prediction. Hopefully Evans can pull it out of the bag and get us off to a decent start, I think we will struggle if we start to slowly as other teams will build their momentum.

Hopefully a better start to the season so not playing catch up. I think defensively we will be tighter, but my concern is goals as no width like last season and without it I think Oliver will struggle. I’m hoping for a top half finish, but hard to predict presently as not all signings made.

I would expect us to finish in the play-off positions.
Anything below 10th place would be considered very poor by our manager's standards
Evans knows he does have the buffer of knowing we are a club with one of the lowest budgets in the division which I find disgraceful for a club with our potential and a scrooge like owner who has been established here for over 25 years.
Steve Evans is a manager who is an achiever and wants to be successful, The buzz of winning is in his blood. He knows how to get teams performing to very high standards, in order to win promotions. At the same time you need financial backing.
Paul Scally cannot provide him with the ammunition, so it will be very much down to the manager's..wheeling and dealing, tapping into his vast contacts in order to put together a side capable of gaining success, which can be done on a shoestring budget. The club's distinct lack of direction or intent from the owner to succeed has been well documented by our manager's comments regarding the word "Value For Money".
We have a owner who has overstayed his welcome for many years.
The freewill expired about 10 years ago in my opinion.
It will be a truly awesome accomplishment to gain promotion on a shoestring budget fit only for National League sides. lol

We’re weaker on paper than last season in my view. Matching our finish would be a great achievement

I live in hope but with little optimism. A week out from the start of the season and we don't seem even to have a full squad.

Maybe we should join the local mid-week 5-A-Side league.

Bottom six, poor squad this season going to be a struggle. Not with evans and there is the major wheeling and dealing to be done. Akinde, maghima will go, maybe even tucker, defence will be better and things will look better in a week.

With Evans here we will not finish anywhere near the bottom. If Lovell or Pennock were the manager of the club at the moment.
I would agree that we definitely struggle and finish in the bottom 6. Those years under the forementioned were just a complete joke and the only beneficiary was Scally who could not give a hoot about the club during that era.

24th, dire performance, no leadership and I reckon I’ve got more chance of scoring from the Rainham end terrace. Having said that, pre-season and deals to be done and 7 days to go, still hopeful!

On the plus side we still have Tucker and he and Max make a good pairing. Oglivie may also stay, so our defence should remain solid. Dempsey, Lee and Oliver are decent players that hopefully will have another good season. However, we will miss Graham and with a very small squad, things could get dicey if we have key injuries. Not sitting on the fence, but I reckon 10th without major injuries or at worst 16th as there are going to be worse teams than us and we do have a decent manager, who with his defensive style will pick up points.

Assuming no money from the chairman despite our momentum we will be relying on a decent fee for Tucker who wasn't at Orient yesterday so maybe something is in the offing. With 4-5 players, at least 2 of them quality, we can certainly make top 6.
It's a shame that despite the momentum that our chairman, who I have supported, hss not backed this with even a small amount of his own wealth which with in turn strengthen the team, excite the fans and increase attendances. He never mentions how 20 years of look8ng for new investment has failed.
Anyway, 1-1 next week probably but looking forward hopefully to new signing this week. UP THE GILLS!

I've got my tickets for the Norwich game. With the latest club news only about who is leaving rather than new signings I guess Evans will have to field his best starting eleven tomorrow.
