Not a great start. Not in great seats but we look weak at the front and back, okish in midfield.
Didn’t get a good view of their goal, looked like a good one from where I am.

Agree, not a great start and could have been worse as Wimbledon missed a couple of reasonable close-in chances to make the scoreline 3 or 4. to zip. Gills definitely looked weak when on attack - although giving Wombles credit they defended deep and we lack real creative ideas of breaking them down.
Their first goal was a tremendous strike and no chance of stopping once we gave the player time to aim and shoot. The second was a criminal lack of awareness of what was happening and required when the cross came in. These things can be worked on but the real worry was the lack of chances created as we never looked liked scoring throughout.
The ball has to be moved twice as quickly then current (watch the women at Wembley) but whether we have the player quality to achieve this is doubtful. I'm not too disappointed as Wimbledon have always been difficult and there is always hope of improvement with these NH signings.
The time to start worrying is possibly after eight games, five points and four goals to our credit.

I think the most depressing thing is that nothing appears to be substantially different from last season. One game in is far too soon to be drawing any real conclusions but early signs are not encouraging . From all accounts we were a bit less dependent on the long ball so that's a plus and all credit to the away support for showing up even if some of the team didn't.

Yes, there wasn’t as much hood ball, which was nice but the match felt like a continuation of last season rather than a fresh start with new players. In my opinion Wimbledon played like a team who want to get out of League 2, we played like a team going through the motions. I won’t write us off completely, and relegation is by no means a certainty, but I doubt we will be near the play offs come the end of the season, even mid table might be overly optimistic.

Why do you think we are in this position ?

I wouldn’t write us off yet but we have to be realistic. The signings have been a mix of players near the end of their careers or players with very little league experience. I don’t think that’s a great mix to get out of Div 2 but we will see.

Why do you think we are in this position ? Due to lack of funding/poor recruitment. The question is whether Harris can do anything the remedy it.

It’s way too early for the hind of hysteria we’re seeing across social media. Agree with everything iblue wrote, especially about seeing where we are after 8-10 games. I’m not optimistic. There are some signings I’m fairly happy with - Mandron for example. Others I’ll bow to Harris’s knowledge and judgement at the moment. To expect Harris to bring in a new squad and have the players all playing how we want 1 game in isn’t realistic. We all know we need to strengthen upfront though, even if it’s just more bodies. We have 4 senior players for 3 forward positions and that’s obviously not sustainable over a season. I still think this season is about consolidation until Harris can move on Reeves, Ehmer, Lee, Tutonda and MacDonald. They’re all on very very good league two money and they don’t contribute anywhere near enough for the money they’re taking. Unfortunately we’re still paying the price for the mess created by Evans last season.

Consolidation is the remit this season for the club.
The shallow squad is clear signs that the silence upstairs is not in sink with what NH really wants to achieve this season.
Hess you say that until Tutonda, MacDonald, Elmer and Reeves are moved on we cannot make any progress.
All teams that get relegated are in the same boat. But the thought of an instant promotion is just a pipedream under Scally and that is poor for a charlatan who has been at the helm for over 26 years.
Now you will probably understand why the fans are fed up with the regime running this circus.

I don't buy the 'it's only the first game don't expect us to be ready 'routine. By the first league game we should absolutely be ready. That doesn't mean we expect to be a slick outfit running on all cylinders but we should have a full squad of match fit players which is obviously not the case.
GFC gives every impression of being an operational shambles. I'm not by any means suggesting that one match is a guide to a season's form but the last second acquisition of the keeper and the 'striker' are poor bits of business in my view.
Ten games does seem a fair point to assess our strength, I just hope it won't be the time when we see how weak we are.

And yet the season before Rochdale,Northampton Town, Swindon Town & Bristol Rovers were relegated from league two.
Bristol finished 3rd and were promoted. Swindon and Northampton made the playoffs, Rochdale were 18th.
Seems going straight up isn’t as easy as some people would have us think.
