john nutter is a passenger in the gills side at the moment, has made costly errors in loads of games this season and his poor defending was fully exposed in the chesterfield and stevenage games i attended.
if we continue to play him, we are not going to challenge for top three spots, hessie need to drop him now.
we all know julians and fuller are the other weak links, so plz make the necessary changes asap.
i left stevenage game feeling disappointed because we are not good at defending set pieces. that needs to change now, we need to learn how to grind out results against strong physical sides like stevenage.

Get it in context. Stevenage are a good side with a good home record. It's one of the harder places to go and we got a point. We can't and won't win every game. Our most recent defeats have been against 1st & 2nd. I wouldn't say thats too bad?

But that doesn't disguise the fact that Nutter has cost us goals this season, because he 's not committed enough in the tackle.Even Hess said that Nuts should have won the ball that lead to Stevenage's first goal, and if he(Hess) had been playing he would have put the player in the stand. M artin must go to left back now, but maybe Nutter could play in front of him on the left side of mid-field,especially in away games.

Nutter has cost us goals and you only have to look at the video report on the message board and watch the Stevenage goal

Nutter hasnt had a great season. Johnknee and I had quite a debate over this a month or so ago. It just gets a bit boring at this club that everyone has to have their scapegoat. Earlier in the season it was Julian, then Cronin, then gowling then maher, now nutter. Maybe we should back our players a little more? Often there is no real reason for the scapegoat. Nutter had a poor game, but what about bentley who was badly at fault for the second goal (and I think should have done better for the first)? How about the fact that oli came on and had one single touch of the ball. Nutter made a mistake, as did bentley, but we came away with a very good point and we should be pleased with that rather than constantly picking on individual players.

what about the goals conceded by weston the other week- and bentley in the last match - or is it just hate Nutter season
what i suggest you muppets do is sit down and work out the goals conceded in all four divisions and you will find that the gills goals conceded are better than many top 5 teams
this is the second (old fourth) division FFS- what do you expect!!

I think it's indisputable that Julien was poor at the start of the season,Conin was worse, but that gave Julien the kick up the jacksie that he needed to prove he needed to buck his ideas up ,which he did. The same applied to Gowling, who by his own admission wasn't playing well, but the spell at Lincoln rejuvinated him. I think Maher has played quite well all season, and especially so now that he's a regular in the side. Whelpdale and Lee definetly gave the side a lift and many performances have been good since they left, but unfortunately Nutters shortcomings compared to the rest of the side are becoming more apparent. Whether he's always been at this standard and we didn't notice it so much because most of the others weren't playing well I don't know, but it seems time for him to be dropped, now we have another left back. The standard of the team is improving and that is showing up players who aren't up to the mark. I don't see any reason not to have justifiable criticism, we pay the players wages.

Totally agree - Nutter is a passenger
He was given the benefit of the doubt due to his very good dipping pacey crosses - not seen one for a while.
Tuesday and the feeble attempt at a tackle before the first Stevenage goal was just about the last straw for me.
Agree again , if we are to get out of this bloody league we have to replace him. Martin is a stronger better defender.
JUlian is still poor, dont let the odd decent save let you think he`s a good keeper. His handling from crosses is average and his kicking awful. He just doesn`t inspire confidence in the back four...hopefully we go up , then Nutter and Julian are gone...

All good points....Nutter is poor but Bentley seems to be involved in not picking men up quite often. Nutter put in a feeble tackle at Stevenage whereas Weston didn't even attempt a tackle against Chesterfield. As it is pointed out this is the old fourth division but no matter what level Weston and Nutters attempted tackles are pathetic. Gowling, the old scapegoat, has come back from Lincoln with the thing that was missing ,consistency, and has proved what a good player he can be. All the players that have been mentioned Cronin , Julian, Nutter, Maher, Gowling, Bentley, Weston I think are all out of contract and, apart from Gowling, I'm not too fussed if they all leave. Mahers recent form has been very good, and IMO has been one of the main reasons behind our improved form, and has possibly been MOM in the last two home matches but will never get it which is just as well as it will be embarassing to hear the Gills fans boo! but he may be too old for another contract. One things for sure Hess can have a real clear out in the summer and I would love to see the Torquay keeper turn up!

Having read about people costing us goals, interesting that no one mentions Fuller as a weak link, take the first torquay for example. Nutter has been very good recently but, has that ability to make a mistake, as do many in this team, and many other teams at this level, it's just the level we are at.

What do you mean no one has mentioned Fuller being a weak link ? Our entire back five minus Lawrence have been repeatedly slagged off as being non-league standard this season...... Since Gowling has found form after his return from Lincoln, both have been slagged off - Nutter slightly more recently....

fuller has been a regular contributor to poor performances for the gills and has cost us many points this season and i would love to see him gone at the end of the season, barnet is probably the only league side this fella can make the first eleven, baffles me how he gets into the gills side and never captain material either.
if i was hessie the only players i would keep at this club, are as follows:
weston, king, richards, maher, barcham, palmer, spiller, jackman, bayo, miller, payne, rooney and martin.
i know cronin has made a few howlers but something tells me his is far better than julians, certain decent keeper at ebbsfleet and hope he gets his chance again and keepers unreliable julians out for good or bring back jason brown.

Mainly agree with your retention list, swansgills, but I would monitor both King and Barcham to the end of the season. I would be tempted to only have King on a pay/play deal unless it's proved conclusively that his injury is well and truly over (we've carried on paying too much for crocks in the past). Can't let sentiment get in the way here. And in Barcham I would like to see a return to his form of 2 years ago, before we commit to a long contract.

King - on a pay as you play deal is a good idea, I really do feel he may bnever get back to high standard of play we saw pre injury
Barcham - I`d sign him, as long as his ankle is fine, I really think he is a good player and will be an asset in Div 1 (hopefully we go up)

You truly are like a slightly retarded dog chasing after a bone. "Far better than Julian" (whose name you still can't spell despite slagging him off in every post) ? Cronin looked out of his depth in a pre-season friendly against Peterborough's fifth XI. If you want him in the team, then you must like watching us conceded stupid goals. Look at how few goals we've shipped in this recent run. Yes, Julian made a howler at Torquay, but that aside he's doing well. As for your retained list, you'd keep Weston on his form this season? And Spiller? Jesus.
