Oh god, if the decision rest on a woman who has just had a baby then anything could happen. Having three children myself with two ex wife's then it could go from wanting to move near her family one minute, to being happy and contented and not wanting to move after baby is born. Anything could happen, I don't think there is a man alive who could predict the outcome. Could depend a lot on the mother-in--laws influence, let's hope she wants her daughter in kent. POPPYCOCK!! I'ts all down to wedge, and how deep scallys pockets are!!,what percentage extra would they need to move south from Vale?, 30%?, i dont know, but im sure wages is the only stumbling block?!!....... I doubt wages are the only factor in any deal at our level, even if the clubs pockets are deep enough(you don't really think Paul Scally is using his own money). There many reasons to stay put or move on, location is important, but not always. Wages are of course high on the agenda, but again not the only reason. When you are on £100k plus 20-30k before tax is not really a deal breaker. Family concerns will play a big part. The Manchester area, with a number of clubs is not far away and Sheffield Nottingham and the West Midlands a little further than that. He has been in Staffordshire for five years, and may well like it, the only time wages really seem to matter is when signing a new contract with a present club, thats when an agent earns his corn.

There is also the ambition of the two clubs. Port Vale finished comfortably higher than us last season so they would, on past form, be the club closer to challenging for a play off spot if Adams can strengthen with a couple of quality players. On the other hand, we only have 2 decent players with the rest non-league standard . There is still the issue of whether or not Loft would want to bring up his children in the north or south of the country - especially if his wider family is from the south. When you have two kids, having grandma local to babysit once in a while might be a big thing. Doug`s baby sitter is his sister Vanessa who works for him as his PA

You're right johnknee but so it lbd30. I think most new mums would prefer to have their own mother nearby but usually not enough to reduce the family's standard of living. I think you'll find a primary concern of most new parents is providing financial stability for their family. The issue of bringing them up as northerners or southerners will be mostly a financial one too. They'll want to bring them up where they can have the best life. If that means bigger house in a nicer area near better schools in the North, then the North will win. If we want to "get" him we will have to pay enough for the family to have comparable lifestyle in a nice part of Kent(or do 3rd Divn footballers send thier kids private?!)

He must be well out of our range if he can afford a PA.

Glad to see we have moved away from mother and baby talk and are back to footy, although I guess it shows we all have a feminine side on this site!! As to loft, his pa is a tax right off. I'm with you stato on the Ipswich players, I thought Hewitt struggled a little in the end, but possibly due to that injury and probably the most competitive games he has played ever. Marriott, still has a lot to learn, but definitely a lot of potential and may be a cheaper option, but as our only real back up I'm not sure enough. Sorry not including German as disappointed with him after I thought he showed promise.

Will be quiet now until 1st July when most contracts expire. As to McLeod thought he had signed elsewhere and in any case hope we don't get him as never forgiven him for breaking Richards leg on purpose!

Considering Hess was our manager when McLeod "ran into" Richards and the anger afterwards, I can't image Hess would give the thumbs up if Taylor started to look at the player. McLeod is a dead deal.

A story at the moment is that we are about to sign Jon-Paul Pittman. There may be nothing in it, and someone making the assumption that because he was signed by Taylor at Wycombe,he would want him again. Could still be a good signing though. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon-Paul_Pittman

I really only want to see 2/3 defenders signed before we get anybody else on board. Otherwise, all the other signings will have been a waste of time based on our defence last season.

I really only want to see 2/3 defenders signed before we get anybody else on board. Otherwise, all the other signings will have been a waste of time based on our defence last season. For me one outstanding defender is more important than volume.I feel sure that we already have players that will improve if they have to play well to play the following week. The full back areas will already have competition from Loft,Morris and maybe Pritchard. No longer is Martin automatically in the first team. One or more of the players who we have signed will grab those full back places if the players in place are not performing. If the budget allows Taylor may bring in another full back. But Centre Back area needs the same pressure.Taylor could go for spending on quality and that in turn would mean that Legge, Barrett and maybe Davies would be fight for the one place left.1 or 2 good defenders is the best way forward for me, that way all our current players will be of some use but have to improve to play if the new signings are a improvement on what we had.
