I would count myself as being one of the most optimistic Gills fans. But even I didn't expect to get anywhere near this strength of squad.Had anyone have posted this squad as what they expected they would have been called completely mad .(By me if nobody else.).Even Hess must have had doubts why else would he have offered Maher others contracts if he felt he could get these guys.

You may be in dream land (perhaps like many of us at the moment) but any time now Victor Meldrew will be posting to tell us it's not a dream but a bloody nightmare, well as far as he's concerned it is. After all, Hess now stands a far chance of being a part of GFC for a lot longer.

Hess's squad, looking good has depth and quality, has every chance of success ,if proves itself, may Hess be here for many a year. Not yet convinced but looks as though we are going in the right direction. UTG

The squad is good on paper but it all comes down to injuries/luck.
The start last season cost us due to injuries so hopefully everyone stays fit throughout pre season and we can hit the ground running.
UTG!!

Pinch me when Jason Brown arrives as our first choice goalkeeper.

After all, Hess now stands a far chance of being a part of GFC for a lot longer. Is that a dig at me again? You, sir, are clearly a moron. As discussed earlier, I want the Gills to be promoted this season. That's all I want. If we don't get promoted, then Hessenthaler has to go. Simple fact. I'll be delighted if we get promoted. I'll be really disappointed if we don't - especially as we've spent so much money on players and given them all three-year deals - but the silver lining on that matter would be that Hessenthaler will not be allowed to fail for a third time. This season is MASSIVE for the club. Absolutely massive. I hope we get promoted, but if we don't, we could be on a dangerous slippery slope. As for "dream land", I'm really happy for those of you who can overlook the flaws in our squad to be that enthused about the new season. I wish I could be as blindly optimistic as you, but I can't. I make no apologies for that. I'm still worried about our lack of strength of depth up front. I'm still worried about our keeper. I'm still worried about the tactics and lack of plan B that cost us promotion last season when we should have strolled into the top three. But I still put a fiver on us to win the league last week, because I wanted to get in before we signed another striker and the odds dropped. If I'd known it was going to be Birchall, I may not have bothered, but I think we have a chance - IF (massive if) Hessenthaler plays to the squad's strengths, which even the most deluded Hessenthaler lover (perm any one from about 15 on here) must admit we failed to do last season.
