Launches the ball off his foot like it's an Exocet missile and is a decent shot stopper
The acid test is whether he's any good commanding a crowded penalty area and to find that out Hess and his coaching staff have to watch plenty of competitive matches with him in goal before our season kicks off
Is the Gills jury still out on him?

He is 19 and only played in a handful of pre season friendlies.... A tad too soon to judge me thinks.... (although saying that, there are plently of people who decided Flitney was non-league crap the moment it was announced he had signed, so the fact he hasn't been dismissed immmediately by sections of the fans is positive. As someone on another forum commented: "The fact he can't speak English will mean the abuse from the booboys won't affect him if he does make a mistake")....

Early days but he looks ok and a better prospect than Hawkes. The question is whether he's good enough to be number 2 behind Flitney. I'd say Hawkes isn't, but there is no point in signing Gazzaniga unless he is

Unless Hess has looked at Gazzaniga and thinks he'll be a quality keeper challenging for the number one shirt in a season or two with the right coaching. I recall Hess indicated he was still looking for an experienced keeper to challenge Flitney now. As you've said yourself concerning the signings of Sinclair, Payne and White last season - they will be on cheap contracts and worth the gamble. Maybe Gazzaniga will develop into a new Brown in time for the booboys to force out Flitney in a few seasons' time. Quite possible Hess will keep him on the bench but will then bring in another keeper on loan if Flitney gets injured.

I just worry we'll end up with 4 keepers on the wage bill. Money that could be used up front. If the lad isn't good enough to be no 2, we shouldn't sign him

Read this on the FA website under work permits to foreign players and wonder if Paulo can meet the requirements
Criteria for Players
The set football criteria for a player to meet when entering the country has not changed with the new system. There are two levels of entry – Tier 2 and Tier 5. Clubs should note that entry under Tier 2 requires that players from a non-English speaking country achieve a pass in an English language test prior to entry. In the event that the player does not have the level of English required, he will only be able to enter the country under Tier 5 for a maximum of 12 months at a time and will need to pass the English test within those 12 months to enable him to switch over to Tier 2 employment for the remainder of his contract.
