I'm gonna say this now, and I'll repeat myself till I'm blue in the face over the whole season... Fans in attendance have the right to criticise all they want, it comes with the price of admission and as far as I'm aware there's always been those that moan. That's life. Don't like it, ignore it. Don't be one of those fans telling others to shut up, that just makes you the prick. At the end of the day, if a player is clearly not pulling his weight/being a petulant child/waste of oxygen on the field, I'm telling him so. Cheering him on like a demented cheerleader isn't going to change their attitude. It just makes you look retarded. I hope i don't sit next to you! I don't agree with this 'paid your money means you can moan like a 5 year old whose had his sweets taken away'. We're not watching the TV, its real. When players hear people whining do you really think it spurs them on? No, especially when they've been on people's back the whole season. try something revolutionary, encourage them. might actually make a difference. If i want to hear people moan, i'd stay at home : ) Read what I said you moron. "At the end of the day, if a player is clearly not pulling his weight/being a petulant child/waste of oxygen on the field, I'm telling him so." I didn't say I'd boo a misplaced pass... Biggest problem on this forum, an inability to read.

Totally unnecessary to start calling people morons. I don't really see the difference between you "booing" and "getting on a player's back". How you expect that to improve a player's performance is beyond me. Like johnknee said as well, it's normally my experience that people who want to have a go at the players only moan at the players they don't like, not their favourite players when they are having a shocker

Finally there are people on here that talk sense. I completely agree with hessisgod I also started watching the Gills in 1989 I witnessed some terrible sides but there was never any booing maybe some mickey taking but it was all good natured and the atmosphere was far better & it was far more enjoyable to go to The Prestfield in them days, it was more enjoyable than the championship days too where unbelievably the players also got booed off!! I agree Hess will be under pressure if he doesn't produce this season but also Im a realist it is a tough league to get out of and it's a marathon not a sprint so get behind the boys instead remember the 95-96 season the rainham end was electric every home game regardless of the performance and a lot of performances that season were not great but the side still managed to grind out result & got us out of this rubbish division.

I think you have to accept it's the nature of the beast. The booing is getting worse season on season. Unfortunately, It's become the thing to do, even when it's clearly not helpful to the team or Club. They simply don't care, it's part of the day out. One supporter said to me last season, " I'm only staying to the end, so I can boo them off " GREAT SUPPORT. Like you I remember good hearted banter and being able to mix with away supporters. Alas, those days are well gone. Arsenal got booed off in a pre-season friendly last week. What chance is there?. It's here to stay I'm afraid. It happens at every ground now, even Anfield, White Hart Lane. Villa, I could go on, but you all know it's irreversible.

I think it's all down the price of getting into games and the ever-growing gulf between footballers and fans. The players and the fans aren't in touch like they used to be, and even the lads who play for us are earning more money than most fans can dream of. I think - rightly or wrongly - people feel like players are in it just for the money and, when they don't see them play well, they get upset about it.

Cheering him on like a demented cheerleader isn't going to change their attitude. It just makes you look retarded. that's what really bothered me. I don't tell people to shut up, I shout over the top of the fools that are screaming rubbish and I encourage the player that they are berating and cheer them on. I wasn't aware I was looking retarded, but hey sometimes i do get carried away! ;D
