I thought we looked very disjointed and looked liked players did not really know when to go and join kedwell up top. So glad with the win but would have liked to see Rooney go up top with kedwell when he came on as I think kedwell will score more goals with a partner. Weston looked very positive when coming on. I would take 23 1-0 home wins just feel we can only get better.

I thought we were very good 1st half. Controlled the game, passed well and pressed well. 2nd half, we didn't come out of the blocks at all. Defended well though, Frampton or Lawrence were my motm. I'd say Weston has given Hess a selection headache

I think that game is going to be very representative of how our season may unfold. Defensively excellent, I was very gald we defended deeper than last season because that ensures that Frampton and Lawrence are not caught out for pace because with the ball in front of them I do not think there are a better central defensive partnership in the division. Along with the protection from the likes of Lee and Jack Payne in central midfield opposing teams will not create many chances, as Cheltenham showed today by not creating many 'clear cut chances'.
However I do still feel that while we are sorted defensively in attack we have 2 main issues - 1) Lack of balance coming from having no natural left sided player and 2) The support from the middle of midfield for Kedwell. I feel that question 2 is easier to solve than question 1 - Play Weston from the start. He showed when he came on that he has the skill to tear this league apart and unlike Montrose he will always be willing to run beyond and beside Kedwell. It gives Weston creative freedom, which he thrives on as he showed when he played of Jackson in a 4411 2 years ago. Moreover, we do not lose anything in defence because Lee and Payne are natural holding players and therefore this decreases the likelihood of being counter attacked from the middle of the pitch with no midfielder behind the ball.
However the lack of a left midfielder can be resolved through either: - Playing Jackman left mid, although I don't think that he is threatening enough to an opposing defence in order to be effective there. - Playing Spiller, like today. However he will have to learn not to drift across because this crowds the already crowded midfield, and hence we lack options on the ball. This would explain why we lacked penetration in the final third today. - Sign a left mid. Although, quite rightly an Assistant Manager and Striker are ahead on the list and with us already being over the wage budget this won't happen.
Having said all of the above I was impressed a lot with the team today, especially after not being to any of the pre-season friendlies. All of the players signed from elsewhere this summer impressed and certainly don't look like they will flop. But considering the wage budget has been cut by 30%, Scally and Hessenthaler have to be applauded by all Gills fans by assembling such a good, skillful squad under such circumstances and one which I feel is more likely to gain promotion than last seasons squad.

Frampton was my man of the match. Thought he did well after Lawrence's booking by giving him a slap round the face and telling him to calm down.

No Doubt Frampton was our best player. Good to see a real spine in our side as well.
