Although to be honest, Charlie was out of favour when his dad was manager, so I don't think you can read too much into the fact Taylor doesn't favour him either. I feel Martin Allen not picking Allen junior was more to do with him protecting his son from the Gillingham boo boys,as im sure they would of turned on Charlie as a possible scapegoat for M.D> Just a little annoyed he never got his chance under Taylor like promised.

Taylor sees the players every day in training. When he first took over as manager he said he was impressed with Charlie's attitude which was his main strength, and then he saw Allen play in a development game where he though he did OK but he was looking for players with more ability on the ball. Soon after Allen was loaned to Tamworth and Taylor said if he did well the loan could be extended or he maybe he would impress other clubs so that he could "get a job elsewhere". Of course Allen was sent off 10 minutes after coming on as sub for Tamworth on his first appearance and didn't play again. So now he is back at the club, available for loan, but the club haven't received any offers that were thought to be worthwhile for him to go.

Charlie has had his contract terminated by the club. Probably a sensible decision, as it is clear Taylor was never going to use him. I'll be interested to see where he ends up next.

www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/charlie-allen-leaves-gillingham-feb-14-1359647.aspx?Confirmed by the club I would like to wish him all the best.I truly believe that Martin's sacking has as much to do with this as anything the lad has done on the pitch.Put yourself in Charlie's shoes for a moment. It would have been hard to come to terms with the sacking. Then I am sure there were at least a few players and staff who were glad to see him go.For the best all round in my book.

Shame but better for Charlie as he now can move on,why did it take so long to come to this decision? ?? I Still think he was better than a lot of the below average loan signings that Taylor has made.i have noticed also that the current manager still uses majority of our previous championship winning managers team. (So cant have been all bad)

Ive just heard (but not confirmed) that Scally is still paying Martin Allen until he gets a new job, until his contract is finished. (does anyone no if there is any truth in this?)
If this is the case than i would think that M.A. is in no rush to take a new position and taking time out.hence maybe why Charlie is going back to college, until his dad is employed back into the game,as im sure Charlie will rejoin his dad as soon as the time is right.

Martin Allen had a two year deal so yes we are still paying him most if not all of his basic wages(no bonus's would be payable) until the end of the season.I don't think it sounds like Charlie is going to return to the game that quickly.Charlie has agreed terms for a pay off which he did not have to do while costing the club it was no doubt cheaper than keeping him on.I guess he will be out of football at least until his original term of his Gillingham contract is over.I don't think he will go to a club where his dad is a manager again as he was clear upset by things that happened at Notts County and I guess there have been things at Gillingham since Martin Allen left that made him think again about a playing career. But he maybe back after a short break if the best he is going to get is a squad player in league two with a bit of time at College he maybe able to earn more in another job and play part time.

Shame, I still think he had something to offer. All the best to him and whatever he decides to do I hope he enjoys it.
