Simple Question, should Peter Taylor remain manager next season regardless of what division we are in. Im not asking this off the back of a bad result but merely because he has been in charge for a while so the question needs to be asked.
My views on it are.
On one hand he is experienced, been there, done it, contacts ect....
On the other, is he to old school, his cv is good but there maybe better available long term.
I think we will just about stay in league one and then PS has to make a decision re do we kind of play it safe by keeping PT and probably getting mid table again next year. Or do we hire a exciting young prospect and go for broke, promotion or relegation kind of thing. For me it has to be one or the other, i don't see the point in replacing him for someone of similar age or experience.
Do we trust PT with a summer transfer session ie who to clear out, who to bring in ect....
Decisions Decisions....

I suspect that if he keeps us up then the job is his.
However, I always thought his ability to build a team from scratch rather than get the best out of an inherited sqaud to be somewhat suspect.

Hopefully not his record is appalling, why on earth does he keep altering the midfield ,so inconsistent! Not even sure if we are staying up ,but even if we go down no way he's not good enough!

I agree johnknee, I think this time and last he has made some very dodgy signings. I believe he is good at getting the best out of young exciting players who want to learn and have been allowed to drift a bit by previous coaches but not great at, as you say, putting a team together.
I have it on good authority that he has said the difference between this team and the last one is that the last one did as he told them to, but to me a good manager wouldn't have that issue. All players would do as they were asked if managed properly.
That said, I agree with swanleygill too, no point replacing him with similar and he is well connected and can get the best out of players. I also suspect he comes cheaper than most other people fans will have heard of IYSWIM, living fairly locally and apparently wanting to stay that way and presumably being better set up financially than many (does he need to work at all?)
I don't think he has a lot of choice about altering the mid-field. He would be wrong to over use Hessenthaler and Dack, who I suspect would be his first choices. Weston has had some appalling games but will insist on keep having little flashes that suggest he could be a match winner if only he could find his form.

He's done ok without making a compelling case. I wouldn't say any of his signings have particularly worked. Hewitt has been ok, Fagan the odd good game, Mousinho ok until injury, otherwise been pretty average. If I was appointing Taylor, it would be to work with the promising youngsters we have over 3-4 years. I might look at bringing in a director of football to help with making signings, as the feeling I get is that taylor is an outstanding coach, but not outstanding manager.

If he keeps us up I reckon it's his. We need to remember the squad isn't great and tbh in this league I still think we are just about where we should be and finish 1/2 places above the zone, which in the overall scheme is an achievement. Re technical comment, I read that also, but think he was being polite and really saying some of them are just not good enough to be able to do what he is asking and hopefully they will not be around for much longer.
