Heard from within that the uptake has so far been very disappointing and reflected in the majority of signings to date. Unless we have a decent run in the cups, receive add ons from a Big money Bertrand transfer or Cody bags a hatful of goals early doors and attracts big bucks it is likely PT will have to get by with some untried youngsters on loan from premier and below

Unless we have a decent run in the cups, receive add ons from a Big money Bertrand transfer or Cody bags a hatful of goals early doors and attracts big bucks it is likely PT will have to get by with some untried youngsters on loan from premier and below Here we go again. Nothing happening on the transfer front, not much to talk about on club matters. So let's start up the bad news machine, every year someone starts on the financial problems the club is supposed to have. There may well be problems we don't know. Where does your information come from, with out some proof how can anyone possible believe your claims. Every business will plead poverty when entering negotiations, so this could just be a story put about to influence sellers the club are talking to. We just don't know!. There are about three weeks to the start of the season, let's be optimistic hope for a successful season and drop the moans until we have something to moan about.

Not surprised really as maybe a few more like me have decided to be a bit more selective with home games and spend the money saved on a few more enjoyable away days following the mighty Gills

I know what you are saying holbrook but I don't think it needs to be read as a negative post. I'd hope we are operating within our budget and if ST sales are not great then we certainly shouldn't go out on a limb to try and get players in. I have no idea of numbers but it would be entirely unsurprising to sell more after a championship winning season than one looking over our shoulders.

Uninspiring signings? Really? If that's the case, a few of our fans need to realign expectations. I'm very happy with the business done so far. Loft and McGlashan are good names at our level. We've signed a striker who championship Brentford wanted to keep, a defender who was wanted to Blackburn and other championship clubs, a second winger with genuine pace and we're still in the market for others.

Agree Hess, I thought the signings made are an improvement and with 7 (I think) that ain't a bad number of new faces. Are we expecting premiership stars, if so then dream on

Sorry to disagree muppet but we may have signings in quantity but not necessarily in quality. Having watched the Folkestone, Bromley and Welling friendlies picked out Loft, McGlashan and Dickenson who look quality. The remainder haven't yet done anything to inspire me. What is the latest on Pritchard?

I'm happy with the signings so far. I fully expect PT to have spotted great potential, work his magic and turn some of the unknowns into great(ish) players. It was unrealistic to expect much more TBH.
If season ticket sales are down, then that must be a concern though probably not surprising for all the reasons that have been discussed here before.

Pre season games are never spectacular so the performances in these games are not a great gauge of the players. You have picked out and named three good players/signings so on the basis we lost the poor players over the closed season then then is a forward step then, isn't it?!. The so called others have been brought in for their potential, at the end of the day we are not going to have a squad of 22 so called first teamers we just ain't got that sort of money.

other than loaft and possibly egan, all of our signings are players with potential at best and they have it all to prove at league 1 level - not being negative but it is a fact - not saying they won't all step up and be amazing but all we have signed is a group with potential nothing else
given how we struggled for quality last season, i think most of us were hoping for and expecting 2 or 3 experienced, proven league 1 players - instead of 5 or 6 with potential
i don't go with the scally lovers who jump to his defence with comments like 'what do we expect premier league players' - obviously not - but with some of the most expensive tickets in league 1 and average attendances, i do expect a few established league 1 players - quality rather than quantity
we are sitll very light at the back - martin struggled all last season, fish has hardly played at this level so is an unknown quantity, barrett is sadly too old and legge prone to gaffes too often - and we have only brought in logan
up front we have lost bayo and not replaced his undeniable quality - i have just put a dvd together of this season's golas and without his assists and hold up play cody would have struggled to get 10 goals - and at 30 kedwell is not suddenly going to change his game - he has never gelled with anyone he has played with since we signed him and that will not change - and cody has only ever been proficient in the league when playing for us with bayo - so we have gone form having a great strike partnership to not having one at all - it is all well and good letting bayo go over terms etc, but you have to have a guaranteed replacement if you are going to play that game - we have not
it is great we are trying to go with a younger, pacier side, but we are really lacking in experience and quality - whelpdale is a huge loss for example - so i can understand why some decided to not renew and pick and choose their games this season - i think scally has backed himself into a corner - the cost of seaosn tickets is now so high that you barely make a saving against paying match by match now - and he cannot put the match day prices up either as they are already sky high - when you then see other clubs, some with lesser crowds etc than us, signing half decent players, eyebrows are naturally raised - we are also supposed to have this amazing conferencing and banqueting business, the one that nearly crippled us with the huge setup costs - that we were told would make us self sufficient and fund the team etc etc - and yet our income is no better than anyone else's - so much for his business model - i think many people are just fed up of the same old speel, all talking the talk but never walking the walk and we are down to the real hard core fans only - i think we all know people who no longer go for some of these reasons - sadly it will not change until we have new owners - someone who can take the club forward - leyton orient anyone?

I have to agree, pleased with signing's so far, and im sure there will be more, hopefully some quality defence!!. as for season tickets, couldn't the reason be far easier than saying huge prices etc etc,People are skint!!,and maybe priorities elsewhere? . And OK ive bought my first season ticket for the first time in many years, did it in may,and when divided by 23,cost around £16.50 a game, you couldn't get that price at the gates!!

I have to agree that the reason some have not renewed their ticket is down to money and lack of names. However if you look deeper this squad has quality written all over it.All be it youth as well.We now have lost some average league one players at best.We have gain players who in the main look like they will go on to play at a high level. The names Prichard,Egan,Norris and Dickenson may not grab you like Lee, Bayo and Whelpdale did but hang on and think these lads are likely to be on less money than those names. They will get better they are able to improve meanwhile the big names we let go are playing in what league next year? Taylor has grabbed some real talent on the promise of giving them a chance.Very many teams in this country are too afraid to do that that is the reason England can't do it at the very top level.Southampton, Villa and Crewe Alex are the odd ones out there are a few other in the basement that are forced to do the same.Taylor has a talent with young players I think he has proved that over and over.Scally has clearly seen that can anyone doubt it is down to Taylor Hessenthaler and Dack improved so much since his arrival.Taylor is the reason these young lads are here.He has taken a gamble sure but signing players who frankly find it had to find another club at this level now or in the future would only lead us one way longer term.I am also happy that Taylor has clearly not spent all the budget how much he is holding back is unclear. But he has not spent up we already have a side that I believe would push last seasons all the way if that were possible. But this time Taylor said he would hold back some funds.Quality signings will be available when teams need that extra player but are short of funds due to the new rules on funding. There will also be a very large number of players without clubs come the start of the season on top of that there are the players that will be outside the premier league player limit. We do need one or two more sure Taylor knows that he could move now and use what he has left bring in a couple of defenders for example. But is it not better to say to every single member of the squad the door to the first team is open show me in the next few weeks that you can grab a shirt.Shut the door and you have still to pay those players.Leave a chance and one or too will grab that chance. Some will not I am sure we may well need a few players but you also have got quite a few like Loft for example that can do a job in a number of rolls. It gives him a chance to make a roll his own. What happens if we sign a left back or a left sided midfielder then find out that was Loft's best roll in the side for us???It has happen already with Lee in many ways. Some will say we need a right back.Matt Fish has been outstanding when fit and for me has earn that chance of a few weeks at least to prove those people wrong.Josh Hare has also said he is after that roll he has a few weeks to prove to Taylor he is good enough for a chance of a place on the bench before the squad is finished off.Taylor has moved us into a new era back these lads give them the chance. This country is full of talent but we do not give it a chance.A few weeks ago I said. "These lads will need us" and they will our support is vital to this work and frankly if you are of a mind that unless you see names on that team sheet you know then you are not able to take a chance then it is better for those players that you are not there. They need us.Our backing home and away will be more important than ever before. But if this is a success we can move forward if not will will need to rebuild but we will not have any Mark Mac's hanging around our necks. It is time we tried something new they are almost ready for the biggest battle of there young lives are you ready to stand there and fight with them or run away and hide? THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!!!

I actually spoke to PT last Tuesday, he was alongside me at the Co-op petrol filling station on Beechings Way.. It was only a two minute conversation but he did say that he was happy with the way things had gone to date and said that he was still in the market for 2 defenders and that all being well something should happen within the next two weeks. That, gentlemen, is not hearsay it came straight from PT himself. Lets hope that he gets the players that he wants.

If we go into the news season with the current squad plus 2 defenders I'll be very happy indeed but it does seem rather indiscreet of pt to be telling randoms what his strategy is - maybe telling you what you want to hear?
Either way Im looking forward to it. Either the youngsters will come good and it will be amazing, or they won't.....
