had time too think about yesterdays match... I know it was the first game and new players etc and dont want too moan moan moan BUT I am the only one who thought our fitness really was lacking. We seemed so tired and run out of steam in the 2nd half.... We also looked like a team that hadn't played together....oh hang on..this team hasnt. really was puzzled by taylors preseason of never playing tem for 90 mins and I think yesterday it showed...

It was the first game of the season so no player will be fully match for as none of the players go all out in friendlys so this was everyone's first real match giving 100%. The boys certainly didn't lack any effort maybe just a bit of experience and a bit of quality at certain moments of the game but we have to remember it was against a quality side who have some of the best players in the league. Scoring 2 past mk is a positive and i think we will come good with a bit of time.

have to disagree...they are pros so with all the planning and training programmes they should have followed they should be fit.....mk don certainly were.

Was you there yesterday? Mk dons dominated the ball so if you look at it like that we were running around more than the mk dons as we was chasing the ball so of course we are gonna get more tired than they are but if we had 60% possession I am sure they would have tired more than us.

There seems to be a load of teams and not just us complaining about a lack of fitness of their players. Listening to the Arsenal - Man City match on the radio, the commentators keep mentioning Man City huffing and puffing from the 60th minute. Quite a few people phoned up the various radio stations yesterday to comment the same.

I am no expert but the 'huffing and puffing' is irrelevant. Of course, they are huffing and puffing but what is their recovery time? Can they get sprint after sprint in if necessary? Are they noticeably slower than the opponent? General fitness and match fitness are not the same. We should be ready but not necessarily at peak in the first game or two. They will get there.

I was there also. At the 2-0 stage of the game, I was bitterly disappointed I had not put my £20.00 bet on for a Gills win. By the 73 minute I was quite relieved I had kept my money in my pocket. Going back to the first half of the game, I was quite impressed with how the young guys were moving and passing the ball around, and the thought crossed my mind that these young guys were really in good shape. In the second half they seemed quite disorganised and totally stunned,as were most of the supporters. So what can we expect Tuesday night?

Being disorganised would have made it look like we were unfit possibly. Agree match fit is different to being just fit, and possibly the result of the pre season which I think was wrong as I have posted previously.

I saw no evidence of a general lack of fitness. First half we looked sharp, organised and full of running. Second half injuries and tactical changes left us chasing the ball. MK are a good passing side and made the most of their possession.
If I had to make a comment on fitness then I would observe that Cody looked leaner and fitter than at the same stage last year.

I not sure result wise but I expect the team to look something like Morris Hare,Davies,Egan,Martin Dack,Hess,Loft,Dickenson, Kedwell German subs to include Hause,Legge,Hadler GK,Norris,McGlashan, Is Linganzi injuried? Be nice to see Pritchard if he is fit enough. This team would go with Taylor's give everyone a chance policy that he seems to favour.
