BBC are giving credit to our keeper for the Swine equalizer. If that's true it should be a debit not a credit, right? What's the story here. Thought we had this one....

Couldn't see what happened as at the town end, but it was coming as we just didn't press high enough and allowed them to camp out on our 18 yard line. Have to say, although it hurts, they did deserve it. Great goal by hause(?) was expecting that to go over the rainham end.

What did he do? Throw the ball into his own net? Drop a caught ball over the line? Derails, details...need details.

Came to catch a ball and ended up dropping it in his net. He was truly outstanding until then and feel sorry for him

I was at the opposite end too but it seemed to me that one second everything was safe with a high ball in his hands, next he'd dropped it over hush head into the goal.
As Muppet said it was always coming one way or the other though.

I really like the quality that this goal keeper brings to the game he looks very imposing tall and seems to fill the net well. Such a pity that the last goal went in.

Reading the match report on this site it seems a tad unfair to call it an own goal. A difficult shot was not properly held and goes over the line - why not credit the shooter? What's the difference really between that and a hard hit shot that the goalie gets a hand to but can't stop going into the net? Splitting hairs, methinks.

I do see your point Sunnyboy but this one was definitely in his hands. I clearly remember a split second of that relief you feel when it's safely in the keeper's hands...and then it wasn't. Everyone around me was calling it an og.

Definitely an own goal but Bywater had kept Gills in the match up till then so I can't blame him. This 11 man defence nearly always leads to trouble. Why do they never leave at least one man up the field to occupy the visiting defenders? Swindon are an extremely well-drilled team and will prove a handful to most League One defences if they are allowed so much of the ball.

I agree with you swingfieldgill playing 11 defenders was asking for trouble. When we did break free there was no one up front to pass to. The formation in the second half was better but we need players in midfield.

Ok. Take your point. If it was under the control of the keeper but then goes in, it's an og. Was it raining? As to the proficiency of Swindon, it appears we had less possession than they did but did get the lead - twice!. They say offence is the best defence so I'd have to believe PT and AH know that and drill that. You can only perform well as a unit if the individual parts are strong and it appears we had some weak points (Fish was mentioned). Swindon are not going to give us anything and will exploit our shortcomings. Thus we must continue to soak up the pressure but remain poised for a fast break. Missing Cody, Loft and others was not helpful. There, now I have repaired my psyche by discussing this with my fellow posters. I feel better. Great point at home to Swindon! UTG

Thought Swindon were terrific. That's the way to play 5-3-2 . They had TWO central defenders and a ball playing little midfielder in between who was also quick to cover where needed. then they had two wingers as wing backs and one of those no.3 was v.good. Another guy in central midfield was always available for the ball no4 . They dominated us as the bbc stats show, we just scored one we'll taken goal by the had working keds and a brilliant goal of the season contender in Hause's screamer which for me being right footed looked even better coming from a leftie ! Hause had a far better game all round. Hoyte was good on debut apart from one mistake and we had several other second choice players in key positions so I hope we get better when the wounded return. soon hopefully for likes of Loft, McDonald and yes Nelson.

Just saw goals on SE Today, did not do Hause goal justice with his 50 yd run to get to the action, and the OG looked like a worse bit of keeping than I thought as cross come shot he went to save was not as hard as I thought at the time and just the type you would see the reserve keeper saving at half time well almost. Just bad luck but overall one point was as much as e deserved

This is not the first time that bywater is shown to be suspect for high balls. Two fans I know both who go to and support other sides ( millall and west han m) both told me before he had played a game for us, that he was a good shot stopper but his going for high balls was very suspect.

May well have been bywaters fault, but saved a penalty last Saturday an if he hadn't the result may have been different, and he kept us in it against Swindon. As a few above, thought their no4 was very good and know why pt put Davies on him as a man marker, although he ran Davies ragged. Overall a point was good for us.
