I know we beat Doncaster 2-1 but im yet to be convinced we are even a good side in this division, we were outplayed for large periods of the game and thanks to nelsons having a decent game we could have been 3 down in first 20 mins, even though Norris scored 2 goals, we are way off being anywhere near Swindon or mk Dons, which are the parameters we need to reach. At the moment we don't have the necessary quality to play consistently and get results on a weekly basis, I don't think Norris will score regularly enough for the team, that's why cody is by far our best striker and source of goals but taylor has not been able to bring in the required quality of players needed to get the best out of Cody, that's what really upsets me about Taylor because deep down he is not a good tactician and lacks the necessary skill to get he instructions over to the players. I like well drilled managers like tony pulls who can make a instant impact at a club. I wish we had a boss like Gary rowett ( Birmingham boss ) or Shaun Derry ( notts county) who I think are much better than taylor, long term taylor is not the man unfortunately, I want at the helm of my club.
Cody on the bench !!!! I think he is first on the teamsheet.

As you know I am not at all convinced by Taylor but I will be venturing to the game Saturday for the first time since Scunthorpe. Cheaper tickets are the attraction admittedly but I am also hoping to see some bite in the attack now,our defence has looked impressive at times, but what I just can't understand with Taylor for a man who was a impressive forward player in his ilk he lets his team play like pensioners on a day out to Margate!

Cody first on the team sheet? He has played around 1500 minutes of football this season and scored 6 goals.Norris meanwhile has 4 from around 900 minutes and 2 in the last game.Who is in better form???
Taylor of course not take us to the play off this season. I doubt given the same budget that you could find any manager who would be willing to work on a similar deal that could including those named above.Frankly you are deluded if you expected us to get anywhere near MK Dons or Swindon in the league this season. We have rightly embarked on a long term strategy in is something that is long over due in my book. While it is a struggle at first there are good signs in my view that these players can do enough to keep us up.Year on year with the right input we can move forward.I don't expect you to agree Swans.I would be amazed if you did but I am sure others will.Without a big backer the only way we can move forward is with a young squad getting better year on year.Getting the best on as longer deals as they will sign.Doing things this way is not cheap players like Egan for example will be on good money. We may well have to sell a player or two when we get the right deal for the club.So do clubs a lot larger that us when someone bigger comes calling. The options for a club like ours is limited the target has to be the Championship sure but we can only get there to stay if we build slowly on the rock so to speak.Building quickly a bigger club on the sand (credit)is no longer available. We are finally building on solid foundations.Yes things could be better.May fans do not trust the Chairman the manager may not be a universal choice some of our players may not top your list of most wanted. But we are doing what has to be done.I said this would be a bumpy ride before the season started I believe I have been proved correct.I have said this will only work if we pull together lucky most of the vocal fans seem to be with me on this. The tone of Priestfield seems a little happier than a while with the players at least. You may not be willing to wait but look around the leagues most of the smaller clubs who have had success without large fund pumped in have done so slowly Burnley for me is the sort of example we should look up too.It has taken years to fight there way up to where they are now and the fight for them will go on as it must for us.

I agree to some of what you say but the facts are that the football has been poor over the last few seasons and there not been any progressing in this club on the field. It hurts me to say this but clubs like rochdale, fleetwood and Chesterfield have stronger squads than us. This season has been very frustrating for me because I knew that players like keds and German were nowhere near good enough for league one and it's taken Taylor until now to realise this, which proves manager wise he is not the long term answer to take the gills forward. I'm want Taylor to prove me wrong but unfortunately my instinct is telling me our current boss is way off being good enough and I am sure Taylor won't be here in the next 2 seasons for sure.

Excellent post stato. Couldn't agree more. Swansgills, no manager gets every signing right, but remember that neither German nor Kedwell were Taylor signings. You could possibly argue that he didn't have to offer Kedwell a new deal, but it would have been hard for him to release a fan favourite. The likehood is that he will move Kedwell on in January and I'd be very surprised if German stayed after this season. Taylor's actual signings though appear to be starting to come good. I've been a bit disappointed with McGlashan, but still plenty of time for him to come good. Otherwise, I'd argue the other signings have been positive

Thank you for your kind words although for the most part I have said most of it before.Swans it good that you agree in part maybe one day er NO maybe not. Some of Taylor's subs etc leave me shaking my head(although I do try to make some sense of them) but he has brought in players who little by little can improve. Egan apart maybe nobody including Cody is undroppable. That being a fact and a lot of young players who have joined us hungry for games. This of course means while there lack of games is sometimes found out but there will always be a bit of fight in the side.Leon Legge has really shown the way for me all credit to him.Frankly I thought his days at Gills were numbered. But he has pulled his socks up and done a fine job and we now have a confident centre back who can score goals as well. Dickenson has been improving he may not be everyone choice but he has got a lot of pace and has already improved a lot since he arrived. Both Morris's have something to offer alright I may only be talking about a reserve keeper here but frankly Taylor's lack of faith in him could of had him throwing his toys out of the pram. But he has clearly stayed focused and supportive and done his bit when given the chance.I like the look of Aaron too.Hope he is back in the frame soon. I think it is fair to say Loft has had a slow start but there are signs of improvement there too.I have a feeling a goal or two is not that far away. McGlashan as has been said seems to have taken a backward step. But with a new winger at the club maybe it will be the kick up the backside he needs. The loan signings have been of a good standard.Clearly Taylor would have liked to have bought in another forward but no point unless he was a improvement on what he had that was clearly not possible within the budget. But what he has done is worked with Norris and German they have both taken stick over the season but both have in my view always done their best. However limited German's skills are.Luke Norris has started scoring if he can follow those goals he scored last week up he will really put pressure on Cody and Kedwell. Of course we should see a more confident striker being a young forward confidence is more important than anything else. Cody has to make a choice now if Norris has won a place in the side does he fight Norris for the place or try to work with him.It Cody as much as anyone who seems to have problems working with anyone other than a forward who is totally work for him as Bayo largely did. If Cody plays this weekend his job is just as much to feed Luke Norris as Luke's is to feed him.Get used to it Cody because if you can't work with Norris and he can make a go of it.It will be Cody who has to improve or he will be Cody regularly sitting on the bench instead of Norris.
First on the team sheet this weekend has to be Luke Norris, closely followed by Egan and the mighty Leon.

Another good post stato and could not agree more that Norris should be a 100% start for tomorrow, and would like to see Dickenson start as well, both are beginning to make their mark.

A great deal of sense again stato. Agree with you DC, I think he has to start both Norris & Dickerson tomorrow and I really like the look of Dickerson, I think he will come really good by the end of the season. Tough game tomorrow, but I think we can edge this as long as we put the chances away and if we do the confidence in our youngsters will go to another level. Busy Xmas schedule, but I think PT will know when to rest the kids as they will need it with so many games coming up. COYG

I saw a stat to say that Dickenson and Norris have started together 3 times this season as strikers. Our record is 100% in that small sample. Agree about Cody. It's down to him to step up. He's only scored goals in league football regularly when partnered with Bayo. He's also out of contract at the end of the season. A fit and firing Cody would certainly see us to safety, but he has to go back to performing
