If the current squad were under Martin Allens control, could you see us perform better and get more points on the borad than Peter Taylor.
I think 9 out of ten of you would agree Allen is a much better man motivator than taylor could ever be.

Also half of this squad would be too small for Allen, and he also played defensive tactics. Remember how we just scraped a draw to win the league against AFC.

If Allen was our manager, we would never have signed some of the promising youngsters we have. Remember, Allen fell out with and sold Jack Payne, Connor Essam and others and brought a load of journeymen. I'm forever grateful for the short term impact he had and he is a true gentleman, but we were right to move on

Ah,yes Connor Essam, whatever happened to him. Oh yes went to Crawley, and is now at Dover. Jack Payne was sold because of the money offered and Scally wouldn't turn it down. Give me Allen over Taylor every time. He was not given the resources that Taylor was given when we got promotion. He was too much of his own man for Scally who wanted a pet poodle and got it in Taylor and Hess. Mad dog was not as popular with the players as Taylor is, although if stories are true about kedwell, he managed to fall out with both of them. I'd rather watch the type of football served up by Allen (and Pulis for that matter)which meant winning games, than the tactics that numpty Taylor uses which seem to baffle players and fans alike. These "promising players" that Taylor has signed don't seem to getting us very far, do they, although I concede that's probably more to do with Taylor than the players.

Taylor has been given better resources than Allen? Sorry, what planet are you on? We are paying Legge £2,500 per week because of Allen. Barrett is on a mega deal. Trust me, Mad Dog spent some serious cash on wages

Allen was allowed to virtually sign no-one even on loan when we got promoted, but when he was sacked Taylor was immediately allowed to bring players on loan.

Also the legge-barratt partnership combo in league 2 is a massive reason we were promoted.
Also, do the FFP rules include ALL wages or just player wages, after all, if legge is on 2.5k a week, thats what 130k a year, still 70k a year short of what scallywag pays himself for living in dubai, Just saying.

Allen was allowed to virtually sign no-one even on loan when we got promoted, but when he was sacked Taylor was immediately allowed to bring players on loan. That's because he fell out with the chairman over the summer. He'd told Scally during the promotion season that he was bringing in players of league one standard who could get us challenging in league one. After promotion he then went to scally demanding a load of new players. Scally was upset as some of those players had been signed on long deals, only to now be told they'd need replacing.

Correct, swanley, but they weren't up to league one standard and we got dumped with them on long contracts

Allen done a job and eternally grateful for a title, but poor long term signings and league above his level he had to go. As said before we are trying something different and patience needed.

Purely hypothetical, Had Martin Allen still been our manager then our squad would not have been what we have now, for obvious reasons, I feel that nothing can be gained by trying a comparison.

For me it is a funny/odd one, it appears obvious that scallywag does not dismiss a manager willy nilly, and taylor is going nowhere like it or not, I was shocked when MA was dismissed, because we were not even in the bottom 4, and had gone up as champs, and it did appear that when PT was appointed he was given more resources, that is just that way i saw it, I believe MA was given a job to do, which he did do (got us promoted) then was dismissed because he is not a PS or a typical gills fc appointment aka not a yes man, I just feel that re-appointing PT some 13 odd years since his last tenurship with us is a slight backward/sidewards step, and it worked, last season, will it work this season, who knows, i hope so, id take 20th now, all day long, but PS does need to be more adventurous, exciting or whatever or proceed further.
