Is Paul Scally up there in cloud cuckoo land his statement that he thinks that some people want Peter Taylor to fail is far from the truth! If PT turns our fortunes round all well and good but any seasoned football watcher just knows he is going to fail he may be a decent fella like Scally says but he isn't a decent football manager! Something about the attitude of some of the players came to a head on Saturday with a incident regarding the useless Max Ehmer on Saturday ,the linesman gave a incident against Gills and Ehmer continued to berate the linesman even when the play continued moments later, total disrespect ! I was thinking at the time a good Captain would have a word with Ehmer (who seems to strut around like he's better than he really is,he should have been sent off at 2-3 down with a cynical foul) and surely a good manager would tow him into line, trouble is he's only on loan and does he really care about any Gills outcome! I understand Legge was excellent with Egan in central defence so why bring in such a primma Donna in the first place,Hoyte at right back,Legge and Egan in the centre and Joe Martin on the left! Gills need a good old head up front and also in central midfield build a young team around then, get the spine right,Nelson,Egan,Legged plus two more!

"Its not a case of wanting Taylor to fail!"
It is though for one or two on here and I think that includes you if you're honest with yourself.

I have no doubt some want pt to fail. It's like when Stimson was appointed and plenty wanted him to fail because he was non league. As for this "Ehmer should have been sent off" nonsense, there was a covering defender in Legge. The rules are pretty clear and the ref was spot on to give it as a yellow. Although Emher had a poor second half, he looks a really good player to me

How can someone who wrote "I hope he's not here in 2 hours let alone 2 years!" on another thread start one which is entitled "It's not a case of wanting Taylor to fail"?

It would interesting to see a honest poll taken from Gills fans to see if they rate Taylor ! Every one I talk to think he is poor;some individuals even think that it is only Scally's inner circle that think he is actually doing a good job! I will reiterate if Taylor turns it round I will be happy but sadly he won't! Somebody must have a agenda to look at old posts that thoroughly!!!

I badly want Taylor to succeed. I want to see him prove that a L1 team can do well by bringing on hardworking, committed young players. That love of the game and proper team spirit is more important than the cash. Trouble is, too many of the young players (and all the more experienced ones who are supposed to be showing them the way)don't seem to understand the hard work bit IMO.
That said, as I've said all along, even if it does work, it's not going to happen overnight. Staying up this year will be a major success and if that happens, next season looks pretty exciting.

Nice one technical. Agree Hess Ehmer wasn't the last man as legge was the final defender so never a red card offence.

Do not think any true blue wants PT to fail, there is surely only one objective and that is for Gills to succeed. Every G's fan I am sure wants success,so the long term outlook is for Taylor to keep us up this season and progress from there. I certainly did not expect miracles from a squad of "Rookies", they are progressing, maybe the balance is not quite what we expect but think we will get there. There have been so many close calls this season were we have lost/drawn by the odd goal(often last minute) that our luck must change as our youngsters improve. Sorry you doubters but I am sticking with them COYG

while i largely agree dc83 one thing which has concerned me is often when we do lose 1-0 or 2-1 the stats prove different, ie we could and should have lost 5-0 or 7-1 and had little attacking threat, which worries me, and can only be down to the manager and tactics ect..... now what is it the professional pundits say 'if you lose but create chances, don't worry' 'if you lose but don't create chances, worry'

Jolly...I am totally with you. We gave seen Taylor trying to manager the gills but it not going to happen for too long before he will have to call it a day. I know deep down Taylor is a failure and he wnot get another job in the fpot ball league because he knows he is not up to the required standard to manage a decent football club. It mistifies me how he got the England job because teams under him are garbage. That's is what he is serving right now to us gills fans. Poor football, no direction or continuity in the team. Believe me Taylor hasn't got a clue how to set up a team to perform.
Canvey Island beckons fir him. I gave list total faith in Taylor and that's om on from a diehard gills fans.
