Good news for us I believe. Always seemed a real decent bloke and gave his all for us, especially in the championship season. Overall a very good pro who I wish all the very best and hope he can get another season or two at Southend, where I understand he is held in very high regard. On another positive I would expect him to have been on a reasonable salary and when added to the ked and fish savings we must have some good money available now - just need a manager to get looking and signing.

A true gentleman I would like to wish him well.Deserves a lot of credit for leading us to promotion and the championship.Spoke to a length after we won promotion and before the championship was secured.A that point it was clear to me that all wasn't as it should be between some of the some of the senior players and Martin Allen as I made a point of thanking them all for there efforts.Martin Allen clearly was not happy I did this while Framps and Barrett clearly were.

Agreed a very sound player and always seemed to be respected by the team. Wish him all the very best.

I can understand why fans liked him as he gave it his all and put his body on the line. Certainly a good leader. However, I always felt he was having to dive about as his positional sense wasn't great and clearly not blessed with pace at his age. Agree with muppet that it should free up more funds for the new man

Had Barrett been given a chance along side Egan we may have a different view. Legge and Barrett clearly did not work at league one level but then equally nor has what we have had this season.I think had we seen Adam alongside a quicker left back and Egan. I believe we could have been a better unit.I think Leon has worked really hard but playing him means playing Egan on his weaker left side,at right back or the dreaded 5 at the back.

I'd take Ehmer and Egan any day over Barrett and Legge or even Barrett and Egan. When a players legs are gone, they're gone

I know he is only on a short deal but don't rule him out just yet he may well yet get a chance to prove you wrong.Still think Egan and Barrett could have done better in the middle than many we have had this season. But clearly we are never going to see it.

He was beginning to take the same time as a super tanker to turn, but that being said nothing but respect for what he achieved with us.

Funny how we're not hearing much from the "Barrett is useless and needs to be offloaded" brigade. Good luck Adam.

Barrett will make an excellent manager and you can expect him to be doing that somewhere at the start of next season.

Not a bad call Eccles and I bet he is the type of guy who has already taken his badges.
