Jake has been playing very poorly for quite a while now and it seems really strange how nobody has really picked up on it.
I bet his dad has but, hey ! That's my son !
Seriously, he needs to be dropped because he looks unfit, does not get around the pitch at all well and hardly ever plays on the front foot, far to many square passes and lacks any creativity or magic to change a game like dack who is immense for us, I think jake is probably a league two player at best and same applies to Pritchard .
Change these two guys with stronger and more creative players could quite easily see cody and marquis get the ammo to push us up the league, stick with them and this is what we get, poor service on a regular basis, hope andy hessenthaler has noted this down about his son.

He isn't a defensive midfield player that I will agree with but if you play him further forward like we did against Coventry and Oldham he is a better player! If we get a new midfielder in the transfer window although not counting my chickens he would be the one I would replace! Lofty needs a kick up the backside though!

Loft needs more than a kick up the backside, he needs a hand grenade to wake him up , constantly moaning, he does not look like captain material to me,
Being a captain who has been poor all season, he gets no more than a six for overall performance , he cannot at present justify his position in the first team, it's just we don't have a particularly strong or experienced squad, so he plays and also the management are scared to drop him, when in truth he has no right to play on current form.

But Loft was in your best players at the club only 2-3 weeks ago? Why have you changed your mind suddenly?

1, Hess attacking midfielder? At this moment in time he only has the ability to pass the ball backwards.... 2, Loft is a good captain but i think it impacts on his own game. Take it of him and see if that gets him playing again. Anyone on the bench would do a better job at the moment, i really rate Loft but something clearly is wrong probably since the sending off against Scunthorpe. 3, Legge has gone to pieces since Chesterfield 4, Garmston arrived in pieces, good second half in his first game but that is it.
We don't need a manager we need a spandex covered Mr Motivator!!

I had high expectation for loft who did very well at port vale but for one reason other another he has failed to convince many he is captain material let alone be in the starting lineup, I just haven't seen enough from him to say what a good captain !! Let's see if new boss galvanises him.

Read more: gillsconnected.proboards.com/thread/6257/jake-hessenthaler-dropped?page=1#ixzz3QokTuPlVThis maybe the case, but lets not forget that he had experience as Captain at PV so in theory he should be well used to the armband. Like 888 was expecting more from him on his arrival here but feel he has failed to produce. Do not know the facts behind his altercation at PV but wonder if that has affected his confidence?

I don't know much about the altercation at PV but that should not be the issue when we signed him, it's a new beginning and new slate, a fresh start and if certain issues have not been addressed the manager has not been doing his job properly and to gillinghams detriment too.
Doug shows glimpses of being decent but I hope we will see the real doug sooner rather than later, He definitely needs a goal or too wake him up and I certainly will be monitoring his progress closely.

Stop playing him out of position may help.

I think Loft has been everywhere except in goal and his passing has still been appalling. Please don't get me wrong i like him and he can be a great little player but something is wrong and i do not think its just positional.

Before his injury and positional changes he did have a few reasonable games and played some excellent defence splitting passes, but I agree they were a long time ago.

Could just be Loft like many gills fans quickly lost faith it Taylor and the gang of 4 has failed to lift him.Like many fans maybe he just needs to believe in a manager again.Having a past at Vale and Crewe I doubt he has had this unsettling feeling before and has definitely not been in this situation as a captain before.

Port vale had a much better midfield and ball winners, which we lack. If we get a big ball winner and leave loft to be the ball player then we will see a much better player

We need to get Aaron Morris fit and play him in there. Shame he's been injured as he reminds me of Mark Saunders

Agree with that Hess, worry for him is he will pulled from pillar to post like MS and never be allowed to settle for his best position, which I think is midfield, due to his adaptability. What concerns me more, is at his age the amount of injuries may see him spend more time on the physio table than pitch.
