And Scally has managed to drag the appointment on for the entire transfer window. Hard not to be cynical when a couple of players have been shipped out, one of whom was on good money and only a couple of loans made (albeit one decent). Whilst we need to get the right person, the length of time this has taken has been dismal.

Yes, a very long time and it is pretty hard not to be cynical about PS motive in delaying his decision. If he is going to give it to the Gang of Four why doesn't he announce it now. The tone of the chat on the Newport forums suggests that JE is staying there. I am guessing that the speed Forest announced the departure and a new manager in place says that they had planned on getting rid of Pearce a while ago. We know PT sacking was not planned, but surely it doesn't take this long. unless it is a manager of another club. Assuming Cambridge get knocked out of the Cup this week could the answer be Richard Money? What else can we do but keep guessing!

Mine too. If Cambridge put in another good shift at Old Trafford his stock will go up even further.

It's pathetic really sums Scally up! Now the appointment needs to be a extremely good one as if we get relegated the month taken to appoint a new coach will be a extra negative against the Chairman! It's two new players we need as well as a manager so basically he needs to announce something today!

PS never really surprises me, we all know he is a tight fisted, arrogant, billy no mates, obscene man who does what he likes when he likes, with no thought to anyone else, i've a feeling the gang of 4 are getting it, cheap option as usual from the chairman.

Well that's one way of putting it, i am sure most Gills fans are cheesed off with it. I think he was advised by someone from PR to release that statement to the fans in early January .... he doesn't really worry about the fans normally. Its easy really if the Gang of Four have got it, tell everybody. The longer it goes on the less enthusiasm there will be for anyone who gets it

question though, would you rather be relegated under the gang of 4 (easy excuse to blame for relegation) or under a new manager, can you imagine if he ends up employing someone like Beattie now or anyone else who has been unemployed for months, anti climax or what, for me the gang of 4 are a stop gap, and they have done well, for a month, they are not a 6 month stopgap.

If we were relegated (and I have never felt we'd go down), the chairman would need to take a lot of responsibility for that given the bizarre timing of the dismissal and lack of speed to appoint a successor. Fans will turn quickly on go4 if results go downhill and they were before the last 4 games. Unless the appointment is top class (Rosler/ Edinburgh etc), it will be an anti climax. Furthermore, to give go4 control till the end of the season would be surprising after the statements from the club about quality of candidates and interviews etc. The longer it goes on, the more likely that becomes. It's all starting to seem like scally giving Hess the job again, but hiding behind the fact 4 are supposedly In charge. However, I've never seen 4 men run a club or two coaches getting on their mobiles to another coach before making a sub in a game. The go4 story sounds more like Liverpool in Shankly's day. Shanks had discussions with Paisley, Fagan and Moran in the bootroom, but Shanks was gaffer. I wonder if that's the reality of Hess's role?

What proof do you have for those remarks? How many times have you met him for business or socially?
Paul Scally said he had received 70 applications for the managers job. He reduced that down to 20. to research and interview that many people takes time, if he had just picked the biggest name or the best CV that would have been a big gamble. Therefore he is quite rightly taking his time, he knows relegation will be costly Paul Scally has shown before in business he is not a fool. We have no control over what is happening, I doubt if anybody on this board could name 10 of the applicants on the 20 strong short list. All we can do is wait speculation is becoming tiresome. At the moment the gang of four are doing a reasonable job, all be it at the expense of their actual positions, 7 points from a possible 9 is not a bad return. Therefore all we can do is keep supporting the team, and hope the Chairman makes the right choice.

God there are some moans on this site at the moment. Come on guys cheer up a bit we have had some decent games recently and if they continue to play with the same determination we will NOT go down. You all know that we will not get news of a new Manager until PS decides to go public on this so no point in harping on about something that you cannot change. At the moment there is not much to write about so everyone is finding fault in just about everything to do with the club management and players as they have nothing else to write about. To be honest there is a lot of rubbish being written.

Frankly how can Scally appoint now if the bookies were right as I believe they were and Edinburgh was our number one target. But to be fair to others he wanted to see if he could find someone better from the other applicants.Yates was watching Newport at the weekend so at that point he must have believed that Scally or someone is going to make Newport a offer. The gang of four have now gone unbeaten in four game and you want Scally to appoint them our someone else if Scally were to do as you want and appoint now and the new man loses his first game he will have fans calling for his head.If Scally appoints all our some of the gang of four and we lose on Saturday then the same thing will happen. The window is not shut yet anyway and even when it does for league one clubs we can still bring in loan signings. The best thing Scally can do at this moment is try and get a deal done for Marquis regardless of manager we need a striker. On the manager front I am happy if he leaves things as they are for the moment we are scoring goals and picking up points what more do you want.
PLEASE MR SCALLY DO NOTHING ON THE MANAGER FRONT AT LEAST WHILE WE REMAIN UNBEATEN.

He has probably got no proof of his statement, but PS does have a lengthy track record of falling out with people when he doesn't get his own way and you could say it is foolish to get into constant spats in business dealings. Surely picking someone with the best CV is the whole point of the interviewing process,it may be tiresome but a lack of action is what causes speculation. The gof 4 are getting results but if that changes and Gills do get relegated the downturn in season ticket sales will not make business sense, it is vital they dont go down

makes me laugh when people talk about 'rubbish being written ect' its called opinion, this is a forum, if no one ever spoke the forum would not exist, it does not make it rubbish just because you don't agree, it amazes me that you are so so fickle, a couple of good results and keep the go4 in charge, what about the 4 defeats before that, the last 2 games have been draws, but we could and probably should have been beaten in both, as for scally i do know directly 3 people who have personally had business dealings with him and they all say he is a complete tool of a person and only ever does anything to suit himself, But some see no wrong with that, look at it like this, if everyone only ever did things to suit themselves, then charities would not exist, what kind of a world would this be then.
