Would you say that it is already or will be as strong a partnership as the Asaba/Taylor partnership?

No. Those two had it all and did it at s higher level over a longer period. Shaw and King was useful as well

Given that they have only been together a short time I would say the pairing is the best we have had for a while. But a match Super Bob and Sarbs no way. That is not to say that they could improve with time getting these contracts sorted could be the most important thing Justin Edinburgh has to do before the season ends. I have just looked up the rule on transfers see link under Pre contract. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_%28association_football%29#Pre_-_ContractIt seem we can enter into talks with Marquis now but the club and Marquis would not be legally bound by any deal. So it sounds like it would be more of a gentlemen's agreement.Millwall could throw a spanner in the works by offering a deal but given the statements it would be hard to see it other than a attempt to grab a fee.

as hessisgod and stato said really, has potential though, I really liked Shaw, i think we paid something like 525k for him but he was just quality in a AM role and worth every penny.
And if Marquis carries on this form it would be silly of millwall to not offer him something even if it is to just grab some sort of fee, they may not like or rate him, but if he ends up with 12-15 goals in 20 starts or something he is worth something by anyones standards.

The only trouble for Millwall is if the do offer a contract they have to honour it and pay him the same or more than he is on now.Knowing after Marquis has already said he has no wish to go back.So Millwall fans would have there knives out if he was to return and could sit out a season just out of some sort of payback for the way he clear feels he has been treated.Any fee fixed by tribunal given the club statement would have to be very low anyway. So with that slim chance in mind Millwall may well let him go without offering a deal unless Holloway goes in the next few weeks.

why would it have to be the same as or more stato, players often now get offered reduced terms on contracts, could they not offer him what they want, hoping for a rejection, just so they can get a tribunal fee.

I agree with Shaw he was one of my most favourite players since I have been a ST holder

Cody and marquis partnership is going to be a decent if we can get them both to sign on the dotted line. Then get the midfield sorted out properly then we will be a force next season.
Asaba and taylor, Cascarino and shearer are still the best partnerships but given time the current two could be up there and beyond.
has cody signed the new contract yet ? He is so vital to us and Dack are our 2 best players.

As I understand the rules that is true a player under 24 can walk away from any club without a fee if the club offers less than his on.If that was not true clubs could offer a lot lower wage and still demand a fee. This article about our own "Big fat Jim".show it was the case for all ages before bosman came in.Fulham wanted Jim to stay but were not willing to offer him the same wages so one of or best ever keepers was free to leave.Worth reading and remembering how a new era began to take shape. www.independent.co.uk/sport/big-fat-jim-blocks-the-route-to-goal-1307026.html

Taylor and Asaba were excellent but Cas and Shearer wins my best ever partnership, Shearer a talent ruined by excesses! Westwood and Price were up there as well! All three of the above better than our current pairing but time will tell!
