manager Neil Harris offers john Marquis a deal. The question is can Gills better it?

Or do we want to? Yes he formed a good partnership with Cody but is he worth breaking the bank over?

Because of his age, they have to offer him a contract or he can leave for nothing.

I live in SE9 about 50yrs from Millwall and Charlton training ground so the pubs and social clubs around here are a hive for gossip, last weekend it was said that Millwall were releasing over 20 players, I see today it's been anoused they have released 20 so descent rumours, it was also said Marquis agent is playing hardball with them as he's had a better offer from Gillingham,

I never realised Millwall were that much bigger than us. If we released 20 players we'd have absolutely nobody left. Or maybe they've got someone like 888 in charge of team selection.

With the new guide lines on how much they can pay in wages I would guess their crowds will fall a fair bit.The away crowds will be tiny against what they have been getting. They will have to reduce the playing budget. That should mean almost anyone may be up for grabs should anyone want them.Marquis may yet come back unless of course JE has he eye on someone else.I can't see us signing more than one or max two new forwards.

I think marquis is a reasonable player, but I definitely wouldn't break the bank to sign him, we have a lot of positions to fill and can't spend a good percentage of our funds on one alone.

I don't for a minute think Millwall want to keep Marquis or that he wants to go back there, but as above, if they don't offer him a deal, he's a free agent and we can sign him for nothing. Because of his age, if he's offered a deal, we have to pay a fee, even though he's out of contract.
As I've said previously on here, I do think our staying up was in large part down to his performances in his early games for us, but that job's done and I wouldn't break the bank to keep him, based on more recent performances.

But Marquis did well with a run in the side, then faded when chopped and changed. He'd be a great signing in my view
