Very sad news I really hope this has nothing to do with the BBCs reporting of Mark MacCammon.

Great time to stop the deal, when we have the most northern league for years. Thanks for that Mr Chairman

All seems pretty childish. Is this still on the back of the rape trial and dack reporting?

I am sick and tired of paul scally forever 'falling out' with everyone he seems to come into contact with - that guy could start an argument in an empty room
he just cannot help pushing the self-destruct button can he, and yet anyone who dares to speak up is hounded and accused of 'having an agenda'
I mean, seriously, it has happened so often you cannot even remember half of the times we have publically had spats with anyone who dares to disagree with him it seems
You cannot believe or trust a word the guy says
We were promised quality signings this summer - I therefore expected 3 of 4 quality established proven league 1 players
Other than ehmer and potentially garmston, the other 8, yes 8, have potential only
He just doesn't know where to draw the line and whilst being prudent with the finances is a given, there are times when you don't get players just because he is digging his heels in - all our managers have said it
To fall out with local media when you are an 'unfashionable' club is self-serving to him and proves he cannot see the long-term damage that will do to the club

I can't get Radio Kent where I live (Berkshire), except on the internet, and the football commentaries are not available on the internet stream anyway. So nothing lost as far as I'm concerned. However, I can see it's a big loss to everyone based in Kent. My assumption is that Scally thinks the rights are worth more than BBC Radio Kent can pay.

I know teenage girls who fall out with people less often and have fewer tantrums than Scally, but at least i don't have to live with him!
I don't care how "justified" he is or thinks he is, it's his job to find a resolution.
Surely there must come a time when even the least self-aware person starts thinking "is it me?"

How do you know it was Scally they were dealing with (he doesn't do everything at the club) and of course it may not have been the clubs or Scallys fault? - Maybe the BBC wanted a reduction on what they paid last year as they have to make cut backs. Maybe PS is trying to make money for the club - heaven what a sin. Believe me I know PS is a tough nut to deal with but so are many successfully business men / women

Any of that could be true Durhamgills, but it's still down to Scally to sort it out, or make sure someone else does. How is he making money for the club if no deal is reached?

I reckon this sort if thread is why the Fansonline site has tons if traffic whilst this site is often like Woodlands Road Cemetery on a wet February afternoon. Huge amount of anti Scally rhetoric without a single shred of evidence. Known facts. Radio Kent provides the commentary for Gills Player. BBC is under huge financial pressure. Reasonable conclusion is that the BBC is asking more for the commentary than the business model for Gillsplayer can afford. I don't know if that's true but it is considerably more plausible than the usual Scallys chucked his toys out of the pram parrot cry. What would most Gills fans say if it turned out that Radio Kent had trebled the amount they were charging. I can guarantee they would be more anti Radio Kent than anti Scally.
One more point. Assuming that there is a negotiating position it's a bit poor of Radio Kent to make a public statement to try to force the position whilst the club is keeping a dignified silence.

Waldo don’t let your radical opinions of this fans forum cloud the facts concerning the broadcasting rights given to BBC Radio Kent for Gills home match radio commentaries. What is FACT is that Radio Kent, in similar fashion to other local radio station pay an agreed seasonal contract fee to Gillingham FC for the commentaries with NO charge (i.e goodwill gesture) for the facility to use it for their Gills player that gives GFC an opportunity to earn extra revenue through subscriptions from exiled Gills around the world. Maybe it would be more productive for you to support our exiles corner as they have paid their Direct Debits to the Club in advance but are currently forced to listen to the opposition’s match commentary online.

I don't see why you think my views of the site are radical. There must be some reason why the traffic on this site is minimal and the traffic on Fansonline far heavier. I know it's a personal opinion but I think that there are far too many that put forward a negative view of the club on this site and that's a turn off for the majority of Gills fans.
On the Radio Kent issue, thank you for the additional information. However, it doesn't alter my main point that the majority of the posts went off on an anti Scally rant without any evidence to back that up. I don't know the nature of the problem with Radio Kent re Gillsplayer. Do you ?

I am surprised that you comment on a site that you feel is so poor. Myself and many others particularly like this site because of what it offers. We have a very friendly atmosphere it's not so big that you don't get to know others that post and in most cases the comments are interesting and constructive. I always listen to the away match commentaries on Radio Kent so this argument is a big concern to me as it will be to others, unfortunately whether Mr Scally was involved or not he is the Head Honcho therefore he need to be involved and get it sorted ASAP.

Well, your first comment isn't very friendly is it. Perhaps that's the point. Perhaps the small clique on this site share the same negative views and that's why you don't get many other people on here. However, you've now got me and the power of positive thinking to contend with !
Back to the issue. I agree that this needs sorting out ASAP. At a time when the club is making so many positive strides on and off the pitch, it would be a shame if this dragged on. We need a locally based commentary whether on Gillsplayer or elsewhere.
