To say this site is against the chairman while FansOnline is largely supportive is total rubbish sorry waldo. There is a very anti gills connect mood from certain high centre posters on FansOnline. I myself write on there and largely get made to feel uncomfortable regardless of my view under another name as I could not get stato the blue. This site does tend to stick to views on the happenings of gfc. While FansOnline is more like a twitter page going on about some subject that is often totally unconnected with the club. I personally feel my view is more respected on this site. It could be that you are more comfortable on FansOnline that is your choice. Nobody on hear has ever run a campaign against FansOnline. Which continues to happen on the FansOnline site. Personally I cannot understand why this continues to happen. Strangely I have supported your views on FansOnline and find unlike many you do write some very good views but I do think you are wrong on this one. On many occasions this site has backed mr Scally I will continue to do so when he does good things. Which he does. I freely admit that I do count many on hear as friends while often the same view on FansOnline will be at best unrespected. Mr Alan Liptrott has never lead a vocal campaign against Mr Scally on here. Nor do I need to join or share his views on the club to write on hear. I find it sad that one group of supporters continues to run a campaign against others from the same club.

I simply made the point that this site continues to appear to be sparsely populated, which is a shame. I want as many independent Gills forums as possible. I put forward my personal opinion on one reason this might be. I am not seeking to run any kind of campaign. I agree that there are plenty of anti Scally opinions from time to time on Fansonline. However, it's interesting that where there is a negative story of the club there are significantly more posts that immediately appear on Gillsconnect than when there's a positive story. Also it's very rare to see someone actual start a positive thread about the club on this site as quite often happens on Fansonline, e.g. The story that appeared about the excellent service the club provided to a young lady who had her 6th birthday which was an excellent PR story. Perhaps if I continue to post on this site I can change all that !
Oh, and by the way I e-mailed the club about Gillsplayer. Gwen Poynter responded to say that the Media Department has told her that, unless there are technical issues, there will be commentary of tonight's match.

I looked on GILLS fansonline. Overall not impressed. Though I must agree with Waldo some on this board are quick to blame Paul Scally for every problem with club outside football. Not all the people but enough to make some of wonder why.

I was not having a go at you a appreciate that you were giving a consided opinion on why this site is quieter. My view is that part of that is the negative view on FansOnline as I have already stated. Part of that is because of the history of the links with the independent supporters club which no doubt some are members but you do not have to be. In fact while I have friends that are I have never joined because I have always tried to avoid making to many waves. However Scally does make it easy for people to have a negative view of him over the years. The other reason I believe could be the age of those on the site. I get the feeling that this site tend to be mainly older fans where FansOnline would be younger and more likely therefor to be more productive online. The core of this site is no more anti or pro Scally than any other group of gills fans. Many I believe would share my view of him. That while he has done good and bad things at the club. We could do a lot worse, but also a lot better.I am happy for example with the direction he has clearly taken with the playing squad. As while I do not believe he has had a hand in picking players he has appointed managers that are mainly looking at young players now. This is so many ways is a very good move I believe for our club. I have always felt and said that I believe it was Scally who kick started that. Even before the move to reapoint Taylor. Scally has been spending extra cash on youth development. I would like for my part to welcome you to this site. If you have the time to read back to old post you a find that this site is not as anti everything to do with Scally as you had believed.

Fay Knights ! There is far more that sticks Gills fans together than separates them. I know Paul Scally has been a divisive figure over the years. However, there has been a general mellowing on all sides as time has passed. The longer he stays and the stability is maintained the more that process will continue. You could go through a very long list of league clubs before you come across one with as much general stability as we have enjoyed. Administration, dodgy foreign owners, Oystons ! etc, etc have dogged other clubs.

Just to say that if anyone wants to look back at any of my posts I have always supported Paul Scully and the managment team. The only time I have been critical was the previous issue that happened similar to this where an argument took place with BBC Radio Kent. Waldogills your comment about me not being friendly is rediculas as I am generally the first one to welcome new member to this site. I have often looked at fansonline and it is not for me so please don't generalise comments at all of us.

Also at the moment I appear to be listening to the commentary of the Dover Match on BBC Radio Kent.

Welcome back Peter Lloyd - badly missed by exiled Gills supporters such as myself!

Looking at The Giils Wall tonight it looks like the only live commentaries available will be on Gillsplayer. Given what Al said above about the current financial arrangements, I can understand why that might be true for home games but why won't Radio Kent cover the away games ? It seems Gills are doing their own commentaries with Jamie Reed and Peter Lloyd and making this available through Gillsplayer. If you live out of the area you have always had to have Gillsplayer as there is no live commentary over the Internet and by definition you'd be too far away from a transmitter to receive it. The bad effect will be on Gills fan who live locally who through illness, infirmity or other reason can't get to home matches. Gills fans who can't get to away matches will also be affected. They would have got free commentary on Radio Kent that they will now have to pay for on Gillsplayer. I hope there can be some sort of solution to this. I don't currently subscribe to Gillsplayer but wouldn't mind doing so. Not everyone will be able to afford the extra cost.

To be honest i am not really understanding the problem with cost of Gills Player. I've not had it for a couple of seasons now as i was attending most away games and had no need for it. But when i did, i think the cost was around £38-£40, less than £2 per game and you could listen to other league games as well if you so chose.
I believe Peter used to give his time free for RK, maybe i'm wrong, if not then maybe RK want their cake and eat it.
I'm currently reconsidering getting Gills Player, taking in the financial outlay, but do i think it is an unfair cost, certainly not to get full coverage of all away games is a damn sight cheaper than attending one game at cost of match and travel.

I've bitten the bullet and subscribed to Gillsplayer. I have to say that it's a really good package. There's around 11 minutes of highlights with commentary in HD the day after the game, the full press conferences with JED, other player interviews and of course Jamie Reed and Peter Lloyd for the match commentaries. You also don't get that, let's go over to Folkestone where there's been a goal, moments that interrupt every Radio Kent commentary ! I rather wish I had had it before.
