Very good coach and whatever anybody thinks of him he brought in a few good young players for us.

Muppet hit the nail on the head; a good coach but not a good manager.

Good coach and a excellent footballer but he is one of the worst managers of the Gills in my 40 odd years of following them!

Agree jockmcgill, other than his period as England u21 manager which for a long time gave him the record as the most successful at that age group I believe. Still I wish him well for the future.

Good coach and a excellent footballer but he is one of the worst managers of the Gills in my 40 odd years of following them! Are you sure his record for us is really nowhere near as bad as you would like to paint it. He left us in the Championship 1st time around and while his second spell was not a success he did leave us with a squad that only needed a bit of tinkering and a change of tactics to take them forward. There are many gills managers over the last 40 years who could only dream of matching his record. Taylor has clearly lost some of what he was a few years back and there is no way I would want him back. But one of the worst now that is way over the top. I wish him well and I really hope he finds his touch again.

I think we're also overlooking the fact that it wasn't an English club that he took charge of. He was in a foreign country with a completely different footballing set-up. All the contacts he would have built up over the years would have been useless. I hope he's made enough money to be able to retire now (which was possibly his plan in the first place).

I think Taylor's big mistake last time around was, allegedly, ignoring James Russell's advice on training methods leading to injuries.
His second big mistake was letting James (who's a local Medway lad) go when he got injured, but I'm sure Taylor realised this afterwards as I've heard from a mate close to James' family that he offered him a job in the Indian Premier League, but James turned him down to stay at Dagenham & Redbridge !!
