I know that we are not even half way through the season yet but there is no harm in taking a positive view. I am not suggesting that any conclusion can be reached from these historic figures but I thought them interesting. The table below shows the points achieved by the Champions, the runners up and the lowest placed team reaching the play-offs (Columns 2, 3 and 5). Columns 4 and 6 show the points needed to still be above the team immediately below them each season although that does of course assume that the points weren't dropped to the chasing teams. Where columns four and six show a higher points total than 3 and 5 respectively it means that goal difference was involved so I have taken an extra point as the requirement. (I know what I mean!) Although the table looks fine prior to posting all the columns etc. disappear leaving a jumble when confirming. I have tried attaching the file but don't know if that will work.

Interesting stats bert, must keep an eye on the progress as it unravels, seems like 2nd spot is the most likely finishing position using a projection of these figures. Could accept that.

I know it's best to be positive but......how many more points till we're safe from relegation?

Around 13 points should be sufficient so potentially by early January there could be some very relaxed and happy gills fans.
