I was actually at the Walsall game (big hugs and thanks to Jan for making it possible) she really is one in a million. here is my views from what I saw.
1st half was pretty much all gills, ok Walsall hit the bar and nelson made 1 other save, other than that Walsall just looked so ordinary and not looking like scoring at all, The ref was shocking in the first half also, on more than 1 occasion, but he did give the pen, which I was surprised was not taken by Dack or McDonald but there you go, it was saved not good.
2nd half was a complete roll reversal, Walsall pressed better, played football on the ground and attacked with pace, ultimately it was this pace which saw us 2-0 down, and it could have been worse, the second half we simply did not look like scoring at all, and well, we did, in the 95th min woop woop.
one thing I noticed time and time again which really got to me was, pretty much every time the gills played the ball on the floor, especially 1st half, we created something and looked decent, but 98% of our attacking movement was so predictable, thump the ball in the air, lose it, get it back, punt it up again, lose it, get it back, in the air again etc.... it was tedious to watch. Our corners were not to bad tonight and the long throw led to the goal. but in general all the other long throws were easily headed away. What I want to know is, is it a lack of confidence to play the ball on the floor or are the team under instruction from the management to go long, either way, it needs to change, we look threatening with the ball on the floor. Our strikers barley won any headers all night.
So overall disappointed and I think we can give up on the dream of 2nd, but we still play Millwall and Burton which really are now 6 pointers, I didn't expect play offs at the beginning of the season but the fact we have been in the top 4 from August to April, if we balls it up in the last 5 games of course I will be p1ssed big time.
But lets hope a trip to Wembley beckons
p.s thanks again Jan
