Massive game next week against a team we have not beaten in 9 matches although we have a better overall record against them. My memories of Oxford are great tight games in the Gerry Summers , Keith Peacock era normally with Gills winning at home and for 6 seasons on the trot drawing 1-1 away between late 70's and early 80's a Mark Weatherly winner in one tight home match(frighteningly donkeys years ago). I used to enjoy Gills v Oxford games but my joint Gills defeat whilst in attendance of 6-0 on the League cup of 86 (along with Aldershot away) is a record that lives long in my memory,John Aldridge I think scored 4 against us that night poor Ron Hillyard had a night to forget.
Thinking of Ron can someone actually tell me his last Gills game a keeper who would always make my overall Gills X1. Oxford will bring a lot of fans next week their away support has certainly grown since my memories of them in the 70/80s. Sorry for rabbiting on but Gills v Oxford games always used to be entertaining in the 70s/80 certainly compared to the present day.
One plus point Gills nearly always entertain and do well against Karl Robinson managed teams at home. 3-1 to Gills next week?

I was ball boy at home to Oxford in a 1-1 and we were losing. I remember distinctly throwing the ball to Dave Galvin. Yep I'd also have Ron as our best ever keeper, should have played at a higher level, had everything. Some would argue for Simpson of course. Ultra fan Manc, have you any idea who and what we 're talking about? I doubt it.

Ron's only downfall was long shots the 4-2 defeat away at Wimbledon in the cup always rankles with me!!

Yeah, I don't remember Ron not being good,at long shots, perhaps his height? Still he s in good company, Seaman wasn't good at them either! As far as the young Manc is concerned, he has the temerity to call me a non fan when he doesn't have a clue what one is.

I know I used to watch Arsenal a lot as well, I was at Wembley for the Gascoigne free kick. Gills my number one club though!! Anyone but Chelski!!
