Must have some sort of role at the club. Maybe he’s been appointed director of football or is scouting for us? It wouldn’t be the first time the club haven’t announced an appointment immediately

Well that answers my question why there were no chicken Balti pies left at half time.

I don't think there's any doubt that Evans has better contacts and probably an eye for a player. I really think he's going to come in as a director of football and possibly take over as manager if things don't go well next season. I think all this idea that people have that he will somehow bankrupt the club or cause financial hardship because of what he's allegedly done in the past is rubbish. Can anyone seriously think Scally will let anyone spend money without his say-so? Scally does know though, that things have got to drastically improve to get fans back, and another relegation fight next season must not be allowed to happen. We've got to aim to get the attendances back up to a decent level and that will only happen by winning games, and that is where fat boy comes in, maybe in a supervisory position .

i will get my sleeping bag and stay down to look out for Evans.
Like ollybreak said..we need to improve drastically next season to get the fans back onside and without Lovell is the only way forward.

As I said before some of our loan signings in the last transfer window have Steve Evans influence all over them. Ricky Holmes and Silva in particular!
Before individuals mock the Holmes signing he is a typical Evans player, a front foot sort of player.
The only problem I can see long term is that both Stevie Lovell and Steve Evans seem to lack defensive nous , entertaining football but nothing to fall back on Defensively!
At the moment whatever is going on at the club seems to be working, if Evans is actually having a influence that must be a plus.

If Evans is in a role at the club, or will be moving into a role at the club i.e. director of football or something similar, could he be able to attract better coaches to work with Lovell, providing Lovell stays in the hot seat next season?
Obviously the manager, whoever that may be, has final say over tactics ect but if we can get some better coaches this could help us massively, especially if they are coaches that the manager is happy to work with and take advice from.

Why would Evans be on our payroll!? Transfer window closed and Lovell at the helm. If he is then what a waste of money that could have been used elsewhere, unless he’s working for nowt and can’t see that.

He could be scouting, like Taylor did before and may have been in situ before the window closed, which would explain the change in strategy

Not sure there has been a change in strategy and as he only left posh on 26/1 and most new faces were already in place/in the final part of signing their loan contracts then it’s all nonsence with regards to what he has contributed so far. Therefore if he is on a salary then what a waste. Our fortunes have improved as the loan signings are better and for no other reason.

Yes, but nobody knows what is actually going on, and until the club make an announcement anything anyone posts on here regarding Evans and his involvement in Gillingham is just a guess.

The main question is was it actually Steve Evans, or just someone who resembles him?

But why would the club make an announcement about nothing!? If they made a statement about all the shitee speculation that is on all Gills sites then they would need to sack the playing staff and employ 14 press officers
