No penalty decision, what chance have you got?

I’m so annoyed by that stone on penalty not given yesterday. What better view could the Referee have? Yet the penalty wasn’t given.
No wonder VAR was introduced in the Premiership, even with all its flaws it surely would have asked the referee to have another look.
From what I watched, I’m wondering where the referees guide dog was.

Gills supporters that made another wonderful effort were just cheated out of the chance of the opening goal.

I know some on here are crucifying Clemence, but come on you were singing his praises last week against Notts County.

Never a pen. You’d have 10 a game if you gave them for that.

As for Clemence, 1 win in the last 6. 6 points in the last 6. 17th in the form guide. He was supposed to improve us.

Haven't seen the pen GF. I'm careful about singing praises, imposters are failure and success. Hess was never right re NIL but he has more than a point re Clemence. Having said that were stuck with him for now until he has the chance to get rid and get in, that's if he has the chance to. I still think the real problem is upstairs. The 3 Musketeers have to go and money better spent. Brad needs a wake up, until then I think we'll be second best.

Never a pen!! Maybe Hessisgod, wrestling is your sport. That pulling over of a player with two arms around his chest was never part of any football rules that I know of..

IMO. If the referee has to give 10 penalties a match, so be it. It will soon stop. I’ll guarantee it.

Ehmer does exactly the same himself every game so he’s got a real cheek complaining.

It's a penalty. All day. If Ehmer does it to someone else, it's a penalty. We had a goal disallowed last season as Ehmer was holding at a corner as Nicholls (I think) headed in.

I’ve just re watched the insistent on iFollow highlights.

Not even close to a pen. The corner is over hit and the ball goes straight out. He’s never reaching it

Hessisgod, we will have to agree to disagree. Pulling a player over in that manner anywhere else on the pitch would have been a foul and a free kick.
So, why not a penalty? The referee had no excuse as he watched it from a great position.
Where does it say in the rules that because the ball was over hit, it’s a free for all in the penalty area, and players can be dragged to the floor?

This isn’t new. If a player is fouled but they aren’t going to get the ball, it’s not and never has been a penalty in the history of football.
FWIW, Ehmer also has his hands on the defender. He goes to ground to try and make a meal out of it, but there is physicality from both attacker and defender, which is irrelevant as neither are getting the ball.

Refs have, quite disgracefully, given up on applying the laws in the penalty box. That's because it requires some proper effort and vigilance. VAR/4th official could quite easily be deployed to monitor it and after an initial rush of penalties the nonsense would soon cease.
It's part of the feigning injury, diving , shirt pulling syndrome which is a blight on the game but since it doesn't seem to affect revenues ( fans too busy on their mobiles to care ?) nothing is done.

It's a penalty. Please see the penalty Newcastle get at the weekend, where a player (schar) who is stood offside wins a penalty for a shirt pull. He wouldn't have reached the ball.

I didnt see the incident, I couldn't find it, when I watched the highlights I could see us not pressing, jogging and letting crosses in. Harris referred to players 'walking' I still see it, though of course I only saw the highlights. If you let crosses In and stand off, then you ll get beat, a bit like Notts did to us. When will these players get consistent urgency? Where are players on the pitch driving the others, there aren't any, Clemence s talk about leaders leading by example rather than shouting is an excuse, and we haven't got either. From what I've heard, it probably was a pen.

If that is so. Please quote the rules in the referees handbook.

There are thousands of fouls given every week when a player is not getting to the ball, yet is fouled and given a free kick.

Fouled in the box should be given as a penalty, but referees bottle it week in week out.

Doesn’t make it right though, does it?

The more I look, the less of a pen it is. Ehmer has thrown himself theatrically to the floor with minimal contact, even though the first contact is from him and he has zero chance of reaching the ball.

Sorry, anyone who thinks it’s a pen has blue glasses on and is embarassing themselves. The fact that was the best chance of us getting something from the game says it all
