Eight of the Gills players that played against Crewe today are out of contract at the end of the season, Morris, Ehmer, Masterson, Dieng, Mahoney, Lapslie, Williams, and Walker. Which of these eight do you guys think are worth giving a new contract to , and who should be let go ?

Masterson and possibly Dieng who has played much better in the 2nd half of the season. S Williams is out of contract but J Williams is rumoured to be on a 3 year contract. If true is a great shame because he’s been utter dross and probably not cheap. Max hasn’t done much wrong I just don’t feel he’s the type of player we need at the back.

Morris (if cheap) Ehmer (if cheaper given his age) Dieng
I really want Lapslie to work but it just doesn't. Should have scored yesterday

Dieng,Mahoney is too expensive as he's actually a Huddersfield player,Max I would also keep.

Williams isn’t out of contract. I believe Dieng has another year.
Out of the rest, masterson and Mahoney are musts if we want to compete next year.

Anyone playing for Huddersfield might well be a bit cheaper after the end of this season, they stand a good chance of dropping a division. I think the Gills management, especially BG and Jackett need to sit down with the Head Coach and actually decide what formation were going to play next year.It is obvious we need two proven goal scorers ,were not going up with with auto if we can't almost double this years goals scored I think there is going to be a lot of money thrown at 30 year old McCallum at Eastleigh, I don't know why but two things really buggy me, I still find it amazing that Harris a goal scoring phenom could not get the the Gills forwards to score, and why the hell we played like Division Champions against Charlton in Coup, but hardly ever played like that again all season.

As far as I can see both Shane Williams and Timothee Dieng are out of contract on the same day, 30th June 2024.

Had this discussion the other match, for me I'd keep Morris unless there is a Stuart Nelson type keeper at the top of his game to come in and be clear number 1. Masterson won't be playing L2 football next year, hence why he signed a 1 year deal, I'd offer him one. Ehmer I'd keep, he is the only player that looks like he is a leader out there by Clem's admission too. I'd also keep Dieng as I think he offers a lot, along with Dom Jefferies who we have missed a lot i think with his ability just to take people on and make something happen.
The rest, J williams is only going to get older and we need a creative midfielder firing on all cylinders every match. Mahoney is ok when on form, but has been patchy and wouldnt justify his current wages for me. Hawks, it looks like we have his ready-made replacement, and Clarke, while he hasn't been given a run in the team, also hasn't taken his chance to break in.
Lapslie has one good game in 4 for me and can also go.
As I've said previously, the problem is deeper than just missing a decent striker, we scored over 100 goals in 2000, and a lot of those were scored by other outfield players. We created 2 half chances all game on Friday, the negative way Clem sets up(bollocks to stats)with us effectively counter attacking teams at home means if the opposition control midfield we don't score. Yes 2 or 3 decent strikers would be good but that isn't the only part of the solution.

Forgot walker, we got done there by Burton who wanted to trim their wage bill, back to non league for that one.

Of the eight, would only keep Morris, Masterson and Ehmer. Feel a bit for Lapslie. Harris obviously didn't want him. Didn't play him at first and then not to his strengths and he has subsequently lost his way.
Would also get rid of Clark, Clarke and Hawkins, if can be off loaded
The majority of these player are better than what they have delivered for GFC. But, two managers have failed to get them players to perform.
Whatever we do, we must get some pace and some bite in midfield, if we are going to progress

There are a lot of players available, who's contracts are expiring this summer ,not just in the Second Division but the First as well .I would like to see Gillingham start signing players the day after this season ends, and more on July 1st when all players out of contract can be signed. This would show players and agents that Gillingham FC are serious about going forward and not just sitting and rotting in the pits of English football. If come the first day of the preseason friendly's were still looking to sign our first new player then I will know BG is not serious about GFC and promotion in 24/25,

Get rid of Turner, Ehmer, Walker, S.Williams, Clarke and Coleman for a start.
Season finished as far making the play-offs.
We just not up to the standards required to reach top 7 slots.
