I’m not sure if I’m surprised or not by his sacking. Have they got someone in mind. Who do we want?

On the one hand, I'm surprised. Brad was taking positive, so was Clem. On the other side, I'm not for a couple of reasons - firstly, he's been critical of the signings and was suggesting he'd be doing the signings in the summer. When Harris did that, he was gone within weeks. Secondly, I think people could have accepted the results going backwards slightly if there was a clear direction of travel in terms of changing the style. There was at first, but he then abandoned it when the fans got impatient.
As for who he wants - I assume we'll be in for Scott Lindsey (for a 2nd time if you believe the rumours) if Crawley don't go up.
I don't know who I would want, klopps available though

Have to say it's a shocking decision after the backing he received and I can't help thinking the club continues to talk out of its arse. Dont know what's happening with Scally but I smell the others using Clem as a Scapegoat to preserve their own miserable hides. Never been sure of Clem myself he just didnt seem to have it so on that score I'm pleased. We need to go back to either Ainsworth or Lindsay, who I wanted in the first place.

However no one will work unless we get rid of toxicity and recruit properly with the Coaches involvement.

Totally the right decision. Don’t know how anyone can think it wasn’t. Appoint someone to make us better and he makes us worse. Glad they did it now not early next season

If they were thinking "give it 10 games, let's see" then I'm glad they've gone now

Clemence never really got the fans behind him. Dare I say lacked charisma, nice chap but the experiment hasn’t worked. Agree if your going to sack him, now is the time.

I think this has effectively scotched the idea that somehow BG is fundamentally a nice honest guy. Like most football club chairmen he is a duplicitous bastard when self-interst rears its ugly head.

I’d prefer to say he’s got the balls to make a tough decision and also admit they got it wrong in appointing him in the first place.

I applaud BG, for basically admitting his failings. I felt after the interview on Saturday this might happen, and a few other indicators were possibly there. The end of season target and the fact that he wasn't really backed in the transfer market in January along with no announcement of a pre season tour like last year. While Clem was the wrong appointment to get us up this year or next, I did feel sorry for him and the damned scenario he faced, replacing a manager who was clearly popular with the players he signed, trying to change the style and failing and the general hang dog look of someone beaten up by the job with a young family living 250 miles away. Two things are crucial this summer, firstly we get a manager who has the balls and arrogance to drag a team to promotion(all of our previous ones had this quality) Secondly and perhaps most importantly he needs to be backed to by players HE wants to get us up and Galinson needs to stick with it otherwise there is no project. This might take two windows, one to get the basics right and the second to strengthen. New manager also needs to bring along a new captain that will make sure every player on that pitch gives a bloody damn-this has been missing for quite a while. My instant thought was Ainsworth, if we move quickly we might just get him and he could be in the Allen mould of manager that might just do the trick. All the best to Clem, nice bloke who clearly wanted to succeed but was ultimately not good enough clearly from the very beginning.

Who ever comes in has to be an experienced manager, I hate the fact that when we had the chance we didn't bring in the Cowley Brothers, they went to one of the worst teams in the Division , and managed to just keep them up with about ten draws and four wins . I would not mind seeing Hasselbaink come in to manage the Gills,( I don't thnk he would cost a lot) or Neil Warmock ,(very experienced) I would love to sees Garath Ainsworth, come to the Gills I think he could be the driving force that the Gills need.

Ainsworth for me to, just on the basis he was at Wycombe for such a long time (and did a sensational job). Agree fully, the new guy needs to be given a lot of time, we can’t be sacking someone after 6 months again. I’m generally very reluctant to change managers and prefer to give people time, but it was obvious from day one that Clemence wasn’t right - he was at least 3rd choice behind Lindsey (too expensive compensation) and Maher (rejected us).

I don't think it makes Galinson the devil that he didn't tell the truth. I'm not sure that there's in value 6 games out in saying that we'll make a change of we don't get in the playoffs

Ainsworth is a route one/direct manager. Wycombe were horrible to watch under him. If BG wants attractive football he is not the man for the job.
