I didn't get that impression of ainsworth there was a lot of excitement at Adams Park and good wins. That will do won't it?

Big lump upfront, big physical sides. Route one stuff. Makes Neil Harris teams look like Barcelona.

If we look at the sides that have finished at the top end, these all have a direct style of playing(certainly Wrexham and Stockport)and they score goals too. Pulis-direct after Des got injured by Fulham Allen- say no more, we won loads of games and we're champions As for Stimson we had the best ball playing defender in our history and a championship striker, something this club definitely doesn't have or could afford now. Yes under Taylor in 99 and Hess in the championship we played more football, but we had better players. Anyone that can pass and play the ball now is signed up by the big prem teams instantly, otherwise they cost a fortune. Brad wants us out of this league, unless he bankrupts the club by bringing championship level players in tippy tappy won't do it. Clem tried to replicate a man City one up top counter attacking style without having the players to do it. Maybe if we get in league 1 we can start to attract better players, but this league is all about pragmatism. Harris wasn't perfect, but he would have got us in the playoffs at least Pulls was Mr Long ball, but the matches were thrilling and he fired up players every match to go out there and batter the opposition from the get go, it wasn't boring, what I saw this past season was.

But Pulis had some strong, aggressive players who could play long ball football AND make it work.

But Pulis had some strong, aggressive players who could play long ball football AND make it work. Exactly. The recruitment applies this summer is just as key as the manager we bring in. Hopefully, the new manager will bring in an Adam Barrett type player. Out of all the captains we've had over the years, he was one of the best. The players seem to lack fire in their belly, as did our last manager. We need a squad and leaders that will win ugly, I personally would keep just 3 or 4 of the current squad at tops.

Ainsworth for me to, just on the basis he was at Wycombe for such a long time (and did a sensational job). Agree fully, the new guy needs to be given a lot of time, we can’t be sacking someone after 6 months again. I’m generally very reluctant to change managers and prefer to give people time, but it was obvious from day one that Clemence wasn’t right - he was at least 3rd choice behind Lindsey (too expensive compensation) and Maher (rejected us). Ainsworth is a route one/direct manager. Wycombe were horrible to watch under him. If BG wants attractive football he is not the man for the job. Good. The gillingham way is not to play tiki taka rubbish. Let’s stop with this nonsense about so called attractive football. I loved watching Pulis, Hess, Allen sides. We were nasty, we kicked people. We fought. We made Priestfield a horrible place for visiting teams and fans. I’d much rather that than the lack of leadership and spine we’ve seen in recent years.

Getting rid of SC was a very easy decision for Brad.
From day one he never convinced anybody that he could manage at league level and being a PE teacher at borstal is probably as good as it gets for him after his poor debut season with us.
This fella was bad as Pennock. Lol
